Blue Mountain by Martine Leavitt | Book Review

If I enjoy a book by an author, there is a chance that I will be ten times more likely to pick up another book by the author, regardless of what it is about. I really loved My Book Of Life By Angel by Martine Leavitt, and I am pretty sure she’s also won awards, therefore, […]

The Raven’s Child by Thomas E. Sniegoski Illustrated by Tom Brown | Graphic Novel Review

Why Did I Read This Graphic Novel? I initially became interested in The Raven’s Child by Thomas E. Sniegoski illustrated by Tom Brown because of the way that it was pitched to me. It was described as being a sort of Buffy The Vampire slayer meets dystopian end of the world with aliens. That actually is […]

Dead Upon A Time by Elizabeth Paulson | Book Review

I essentially went into Elizabeth Paulson’s Dead Upon A Time totally blind. I grabbed it from my shelves because it was exceedingly thin and threw it on my Dewey Readathon pile. Well, I figured based on the cover that it might be a creepy sort of read which would tie in well to my Halloween feelings […]

I Am The Weapon by Allen Zadoff | Audiobook Review

Essentially, I Am The Weapon is about this kid who goes by Benjamin for the majority of Zadoff’s book. His parents were killed by his friend Mike when he was a teenager. Then Benjamin was recruited to essentially be an assassin. He receives training and is honed into the best possible weapon. From there, he is given coded assignments, gets close to a mark – usually another kid at the different schools he is sent to – and then kills their parent. This time, Benjamin is assigned to the mayor of New York City’s daughter – Sam. He ends up being really interested in Sam and also coming to like the mayor. So, he decides he wants out of the assassin business. Will he get out? That remains to be seen.

A Thousand Nights by EK Johnston | Book Review

Is it just me or is this the year of the A Thousand And One Nights retellings? Either way, this is an abundance of non-white richness and I am a huge fan of that. EK Johnston’s A Thousand Nights is right on point with this young adult trend. While it might lack the richness of The Wrath And The […]
