Review of Frostbite by Richelle Mead

Frostbite by Richelle Mead is the second installment of the Vampire Academy series. It is set about 3 weeks after the first book, Vampire Academy, ends. Frostbite opens with a prologue which explains everything that happened in the previous book as well as the difference between Strigoi and Moroi. We again learn what a dhampir is. Eventually, the book delves into the meat of the story. The entire academy goes on a mandatory winter trip to a ski resort to keep all of the Moroi children safe in the wake of a string of killings.

I felt Frostbite was impossible to put down. Again, this could be because of the short chapters. I notice when a book has short chapters I tend to say just one more chapter, and wind up reading ten more chapters instead. Or it could be impossible to put down because of the action. Frostbite is packed with action, romance, and a couple new characters. We also got to see Mia in a new light, for which I am grateful. I like it when a character becomes more fleshed out and is made to be three-dimensional. Oh, and of course our leading lady Rose is as awesome as ever. Talk about sexual tension. I need a fan or something, cuz despite being set in winter at a ski lodge, this book is smoking hot!

I absolutely recommend you drink something hot such as hot chocolate with some mint extract while reading Frostbite. This book has got it all, it’ll make you laugh, cry, and fall in love with the characters.

  1. I can't wait to read these.

  2. Frosbite is AWESOME. Really. But I can guarantee that Shadow Kiss is the best of the series so far! Not that Blood Promise isn't that awesome as well. Hhehe.

I love them all but Blood Promise is by far my favorite. I'm sure when Spirit Bound comes out that will be my new favorite! 🙂
