The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson is not your typical grief book. It’s completely devoid of purple prose, none of this ‘heart shattering in a million pieces, never ending tears’ BS. Rather, The Sky Is Everywhere is full of genuine heart and emotion.
The Next Best Thing by Kristan Higgins Book Review
I scored a whole pile of Higgins at the Borders liquidations. The reason why I chose The Next Best Thing to begin with isn’t that impressive, only that it’s the shortest, also apparently the least liked among the people I talked to and I am such a save the best for last kind of girl. (It’s why I always eat the garlic bread AFTER the spagetti).
Now Including A Pants Melting Male Specimen
It all starts with a bet. Actually, back that up, Bet Me by Jennifer Cruise starts with Minerva Dobbs getting dumped by a douchbag named David. Minerva believes fairy tales are not for her, and at this point believes there are no good men left in the world. After overhearing a bet between her ex David and Calvin Morrisey, who is a ladykiller, Minerva agrees to a dinner date with Calvin if only to get back at David, figuring why not have a bit of fun with this pants melting male specimen.
Literally, my reaction AHHHH.
Unfortunately my background was sorely lacking because I never picked up Sabriel by Garth Nix as a teen despite it’s numerous awards. Straight up, that makes me a stupid ass, because contained within Sabriel are multitudes of awesome.
An Abundance of Katherines by John Green Book Review
Colin has dated 19 girls named Katherine and been dumped by all of them, hence John Green’s title An Abundance of Katherines. Relationships, Colin believes, can be measured by a mathematical equation based on how much a person is a dumper or a dumpee.
