A witch struggling to regain what she has lost casts a forbidden spell—only to discover much more than she expected, in this enchanting new rom-com by New York Times bestselling author Lana Harper.

Six months after having been hit by a power surge that nearly obliterated her memory, Delilah Harlow is still picking up the pieces. Her once diamond-sharp mind has become shaky and unreliable, and bristly, self-sufficient Delilah is forced to rely on friends, family, and her raven familiar for help. In an effort to reclaim her wits and former independence, she casts a dangerous blood spell meant to harness power with healing capacities.

While the spell does restore clarity, it also unexpectedly turns Delilah into an irresistible beacon for the kind of malevolent supernatural creatures that have never before ventured into Thistle Grove. One night—just as things are about to go terribly sideways with a rogue succubus—a mysterious stranger appears in the nick of time to save Delilah’s soul.

Gorgeous, sultry, and as dangerous as the knives she carries, Catriona Quinn is a hunter of monsters—and half-human, half-fae herself, she is the kind of sly and morally gray creature Delilah would normally find horrifying. Though Delilah balks at the idea of a partnership, she has no choice but to roll the dice on their collaboration. As the two delve deeper into the power that underlies Thistle Grove, they uncover not only the town’s hidden history but also a risky attraction that could upend Delilah’s entire life.

In Charm’s Way by Lana Harper is the fourth book in the Witches Of Thistle Grove series. I had really enjoyed this series for the most part up to this point. The series follows a town called Thistle Grove that is populated by four main witch families. Each book contains a diverse cast of characters and also LGBTQ romance. The stories tend to be well paced and interesting. However, In Charm’s Way just did not hit for me the way the other three books did.

In Charm’s Way follows Delilah Harlow. Delilah had been hit by a spell accidentally when one of the other characters is accidentally possessed or channels a minor goddess. The spell causes her to have symptoms similar to a TBI. Delilah is harboring a lot of resentment and anger. One day, she’s working at the family bookshop when a young woman named Cat walks in and steals her heart. As it turns out, Cat is a monster hunter from Chicago and she is here to help out Delilah.

Maybe it’s that I have way too much going on mentally due to a new role I’m stepping into. However, I just could not get into this book. It felt like such a chore and a drag to read. It might also be due to not really liking the main character – Delilah is a jerk and so immature in how she acts. She hangs onto this anger at another character for a mistake and basically makes that character grovel. I just found her distasteful and not to my preference for a main character. However, I will not let this color my view of the series and will be back for whatever comes next — The Witches Of Thistle Grove is a fantastic paranormal series overall. This book didn’t work for me, but maybe you’ll like it or can hold space for a really prickly character right now.

Legend goes that long ago a Flores woman offended the old gods, and their family was cursed as a result. Now, every woman born to the family has a touch of magic.

Sage Flores has been running from her family—and their “gifts”—ever since her younger sister Sky died. Eight years later, Sage reluctantly returns to her hometown. Like slipping into an old, comforting sweater, Sage takes back her job at Cranberry Rose Company and uses her ability to communicate with plants to discover unusual heritage specimens in the surrounding lands.

What should be a simple task is complicated by her partner in botany sleuthing: Tennessee Reyes. He broke her heart in high school, and she never fully recovered. Working together is reminding her of all their past tender, genuine moments—and new feelings for this mature sexy man are starting to take root in her heart.

With rare plants to find, a dead sister who keeps bringing her coffee, and another sister whose anger fills the sky with lightning, Sage doesn’t have time for romance. But being with Tenn is like standing in the middle of a field on the cusp of a summer thunderstorm—supercharged and inevitable.

Are you looking for a fabulous book with themes of magical realism and specifically plant magic? Witch Of Wild Things by Raquel Vasquez Gilliland is an absolute must read. Witch Of Wild Things follows Sage Flores who left her hometown eight years ago — after her sister Sky passed away. Sage, however, returns when offered a job with the Cranberry Rose Company identifying new plants. Oh, but it turns out one of her coworkers is an old crush – Tennessee Reyes. While Sage has been gone, her other sister Teal has been in a really unhealthy relationship. Oh, and apparently the Flores family is cursed. So, yeah, Sage is staying with her aunt Nadia who has some things going on as well. And throughout is a thread of magic too — particularly an affinity with plants.

When I say I want a witch book, I mean I want something along the lines of Witch Of Wild Things. This book is so cozy. Gilliland’s writing is captivating and I fell in love with the. characters. There’s also scenes featuring AIM and IYKYK. I love a throwback. Also loved how all the threads came together and the book ended up resolving. It hit everything I wanted. Also — can we talk about the chemistry between Sage and Tenn. Whooooo. Of course, there’s miscommunication trope and a reason why Sage holds herself apart from Tenn and doesn’t trust him at first. But, well, let’s just say again everything resolves perfectly. If you are looking for a book that gives autumnal feelings, pick up Witch Of Wild Things immediately. Also, I listened to the audiobook version narrated by Krysta Gonzales who is so charming in the 8 hours and 59 minutes this book takes to listen to.

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Nature of Witches and Wild is the Witch comes a lush romantic fantasy about forbidden love, the choices we make, and the pull between duty and desire.

*Featuring an exclusive case only available on the first print run!

Tana Fairchild's fate has never been in question. Her life has been planned out since the moment she was born: she is to marry the governor's son, Landon, and secure an unprecedented alliance between the witches of her island home and the mainlanders who see her very existence as a threat.

Tana's coven has appeased those who fear their power for years by releasing most of their magic into the ocean during the full moon. But when Tana misses the midnight ritual—a fatal mistake—there is no one she can turn to for help...until she meets Wolfe.

Wolfe claims he is from a coven that practices dark magic, making him one of the only people who can help her. But he refuses to let Tana's power rush into the sea, and instead teaches her his forbidden magic. A magic that makes her feel powerful. Alive.

As the sea grows more violent, her coven loses control of the currents, a danger that could destroy the alliance as well as her island. Tana will have to choose between love and duty, between loyalty to her people and loyalty to her heart. Marrying Landon would secure peace for her coven but losing Wolfe and his wild magic could cost her everything else.

Bring Me Your Midnight by Rachel Griffin is so lush and engaging. It is a superb story that feels almost out of time. The book follows Tana Fairchild who is the daughter of some prominent witches who live on this island. Across from the island is where the non-magical people live — on the mainland. There is a tentative peace between the mainland and the island, so long as the witches limit their magic to parlor tricks and cast excess magic into the sea. Tana is about to firm up the peace even more by being promised to the governor’s son Landon as his future wife. Unfortunately, one day, she misses the casting of magic into the sea because she bumped into a mysterious stranger and so is scared she’ll die because she didn’t get rid of her magic. However, that stranger, is member of a hidden coven that coexists on the island. Now, Tana is questioning everything she ever knew.

This was absolutely a me sort of book. I enjoyed the world building and how it was parceled out. It was so interesting learning about the magic and the two covens. Also, in the beginning it feels like Bring Me Your Midnight is set in the 1800s but then it mentions electricity and light bulbs and that had me thinking okay I can’t quite place the setting. I also liked that Landon was actually a nice guy and not a terrible person even though Tana was not into him. Wolfe was so fascinating to me — I found myself drawn into his way of life and the history of his coven. I think if you want a magical vibe, you need to read Bring Me Your Midnight by Rachel Griffin. I know that now I’m feeling very apt to pick up her other books.

In this spellbinding romantic comedy from a series about a family of witches, a lovelorn small-town witch helps a handsome prince break free from a curse--all while trying not to let their feelings for each other bubble to the surface.

A witch without a spell

All Ursula Caraway wished for was to live happily ever after in her hometown of Freya Grove. The self-proclaimed Jersey Shore Witch Princess was set to begin her perfect life--until a twist of fate changed everything. Now, she's telling fortunes to the lovelorn, selling crystals at the local psychic shop, and reclaiming her missing magic. Ursula desperately wishes to shake up her life--so much so, that she'll do just about anything. Including befriending a very cute, very enchanted prince.

A prince in search of a kiss

Prince Xavier Alder needs to find The One, but his lack of social skills has made that a challenge--and being cursed by the Faerie Queen isn't helping either. So when Ursula, eager to believe in magic again, agrees to help Xavier find a perfect, curse-breaking kiss before Midsummer, it's the ideal opportunity for them to get what they want. So long as they don't let their mutual (and inconvenient) attraction get in the way.

Kiss And Spell by Celestine Martin is the second book in the Elemental Love series — following Witchful Thinking which I absolutely enjoyed. This book is perfect for those witchy/paranormal vibes. It’s set in spring but still managed to put me in a spooky season sort of mood. You do not need to have read Witchful Thinking to pick up Kiss And Spell. However, I recommend it because otherwise you will miss out on some context and easter eggs.

This book stars Ursula Caraway who lives in the magical New Jersey seaside town of Freya Grove. Ursula is a witch who has long dreamed of a happy ending. To get that happy ending, she has tucked away her witchy side as she believes her fiance, the mayor’s son, won’t like it. However, that does not help anything as he leaves her at the altar. So, she is dealing with some deep heartbreak. While she is trying to put her life together, she ends up helping Xavier, a fairy prince, find his way to a date he is going on. Xavier has been placed under an enchantment and the only way to break it is to have a special kiss. So, he goes on all these dates but none of them spark him up the way that Ursula does. The two end up being great friends.- but given how hurt Ursula has been in the past, there doesn’t seem to be room for them to be more. Plus, Xavier wants to return to the fairy realm.

I very much liked Kiss And Spell. And I know I will be back for the third book – Deja Brew. If you like paranormal romance with immaculate vibes, witch books, and stories with diverse casts, you will LOVE this book. It’s well paced. The characters are interesting and likable. And well, I like that there’s some real development in the relationship.
