Stacking The Shelves (73) | October 2014 Book Haul

Goodness, it has been such a busy few days. Over the past two weeks I have worked over 90 hours. I have been so anxious about something but hey I am getting through it. I had some not so great news dropped on me, so I had to make a huge life adjustment. I have been run ragged. On the upside, I have read Princess Of Thorns by Stacey Jay which I loved. I got selected for something pretty important. I am about to have a mini-vacation, or a five day weekend, so this upcoming week, I am working 32 hours in three days and then am off from Thursday until Tuesday, in which I also shove a bunch of hours in the next week to come. Let’s just say that I’ve got a lot of irons in a lot of different fires. So, my personal life is a toss-up, but I think that it is starting to look up.

For Review:

The Wedding Vow by Cara Connelly (Unsolicited Review Copy) – This book looks to be pretty steamy. It’s from Avon and I am actually super excited to read it.

The Turtle Of Oman by Naomi Shihab Nye (Unsolicited Finished Copy) – Second copy. Make me be less lazy and do a giveaway!

Dream A Little Dream by Kerstin Gier (Requested Review Copy) – This looks so good and I love the colors on the cover.

Skandal by Lindsay Smith (Requested Review Copy) – Oh my goodness I seriously cannot wait to see what happens next, after LOVING Sekret.

The Queen Of Bright And Shiny Things by Ann Aguirre (Requested Review Copy) – I will always read all the Ann Aguirre things. ALWAYS.

The Ghosts Of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick (Requested Review Copy) – I am forever and always a Sedgwick fan and am so excited to see what brilliant thing he comes out with next.

Flat Stanley’s Worldwide Adventures: Escape To California by Josh Greenhut (Unsolicited Review Copy) – In which I have Flat Stanley memories from elementary school.

The Fairybell Sisters: Christmas Fairy Magic by Margaret McNamara (Unsolicited Review Copy) – Let’s be real, I am totally reading this because the word Christmas is in the title.

The Perfectionists by Sara Shepard (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I really enjoyed PLL, so I think I want to try this.

The Invisible by Amelia Kahaney (Unsolicited Review Copy) – Still need to read The Brokenhearted, alas.

Stray by Elissa Sussman (Unsolicited Finished Copy) – I LOVE THIS BOOK, thus I am so excited for it to come in the mail.

The Fall by Bethany Griffin (Unsolicited Finished Copy) – Retelling of the Fall Of The House Of Usher, this looks great and like Halloween in book form. YES.

Nuts To You by Lynne Rae Perkins (Unsolicited Finished Copy) – This is my second finished copy of this. Again, I need to do a giveaway.

5 Seconds of Summer: Hey, Let’s Make A Band (Unsolicited Finished Copy) – What even is this book you guys?

Comments

  1. I read Midwinterblood by Marcus Sedgwick and thought it was too much like Lost. I’m thinking I really should try some of his other books.

Also, your reaction to the last book in this video is hysterical. Probably how I’d feel, to.

    • I wonder if you would like She Is Not Invisible? Hmmmm.

I did try Lost but gave up on it because there was like a dinosaur or monster in the woods making all these noises and I was like what even is this? And just never got back into it.

YES, that book? WHAT EVEN HARPER COLLINS? WHAT EVEN? I do not even know who those people are. I was thinking they sing Lightning In A Bottle which is a song that I really like, but that’s actually The Summer Set and not this band and I don’t even know who they are or what they sing and oh my goodness this book is forcing me to confront the fact that I am OLD.

  2. Wow! Well with working 90 hours for two weeks and then 35 this week, you definitely deserve some sort of vacation. It sounds like you got a ton of great books. I’ve been interested in The Perfectionists and Stray. Especially Stray. And The Perfectionists. Please please please give away The Perfectionists in a give away! I would totally enter it.

Glad to hear you loved Princess of Thorns, I really want to read that one.

The Queen of Bright & Shiny Things and the series by Lindsay Smith sound fascinating!

Telepathy is mind powers. 🙂 I’d love the 5SoS book! Granted, I’m not crazy about the band, but that book looks fun. You know? Five Seconds of Summer is like a pop band. I’m going to be 23 in a few days so I hope it’s not bad that I know who they are…my 15 year old sister (soon to be 16) didn’t know who they are, so it may be a bad thing… 😉

I won a copy of Don’t Touch by Rachel M. Wilson which is about a girl who has an anxiety disorder and is scared to touch people in fear something bad will happen. I’ve also gained access to an E-ARC of The Walled City by Ryan Graudin.

I hope you have a great week! Also, I apologize for my excessive use of exclamation points.

  3. OO, SO MANY GOOD BOOKS. That Sedgwick cover is obscenely beautiful. I haven’t read any of his stuff, but you are far from the first person to rave about him. OH, i’m glad you liked Stray! I’m excited about that one, but most people I know didn’t like it. I hope I end up agreeing with you. Happy reeeeeeeading!

  4. Did you film this with your new camera? It looks great! Also we have so many of the same books for review we need to read something together haha

  5. September was a rough month. And it is sooo cold! I finally turned my heat on. I was resisting but yesterday I bit the bullet. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the new books you received.

  6. I’m pretty excited about Skandal too! That’s certainly a sequel I’ve been looking forward to since I first read and fell in love with Sekret early this year.
