Stacking The Shelves (45)

You know, for a four day week at work it was actually kind of busy. I feel like I accomplished more in 4 days than I usually do in a month. It wasn’t a terrible week as far as weeks go, either. Regardless, you are here to hear about books and that is awesome. First off, I am currently making my way through The Republic Of Thieves by Scott Lynch, the latest in the Gentlemen Bastards series and it is awesome. I am surprised I am reading an adult epic fantasy book so quickly. Y’all, this book is big and thick and heavy and I LOVE IT. Aside from that, my mailbox pretty much exploded this week and I am pumped to share this haul with you. ALSO! I am kind of really jealous of everyone at ALA Midwinter. It’s not even that far away from me. Alas. Enough of this, more on BOOKS!

For Review:

STS 45-1 Harper Teen ARCs

Prisoner Of Night And Fog by Anne Blankman (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I am beyond excited to read this historical fiction debut, set in pre World War II Germany. It sounds like it will be heartbreaking and amazing. Also? The author got her master’s  degree from SUNY Albany and that’s pretty near to me. I gotta support SUNY authors and all, being a SUNY girl myself.
How To Meet Boys by Catherine Clark (Unsolicited Review Copy) – Oh my goodness, this book sounds full of drama. I can’t wait. It’s about a girl who falls for her best friend’s worst enemy. AND ALSO THE BEST FRIEND. Hot mess, here I come!
Meridian by Josin L. McQuein (Unsolicited Review Copy) – This is the sequel to Arclight and while I was not in love with Arclight, I’ll read this because I am super curious.
After The End by Amy Plum (Unsolicited Review Copy) – There are dogs on the cover and that worries me. I will never forgive if the dogs end up dying. Oh heck no. But also, this looks good. But, I have dog worry.
The Last Best Kiss by Claire LaZebnik (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I have like a pile of LaZebnik’s books that I need to read. Do you guys think I would like them? I am especially looking forward to this book because I quite like Persuasion retellings.
Sleep No More by Aprilynne Pike (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I’ve DNFed the only book by Pike that I’ve tried, so I am nervous about this. BUT, there’s a comparison to Inception. So, ahhh.
Exile by Kevin Emerson (Unsolicited Review Copy) – Okay, I am also apprehensive about this one because I did not love The Lost Code, but you guys, perfect cover is perfect. So, I will give this a fair shake.

STS 45-2

The Secret Sisterhood Of Heartbreakers by Lynn Weingarten (Unsolicited Review Copy) – This is my second finished copy. I think that is a sign that I need to read this, and also that I need to stop being lazy and do a giveaway. FYI, this is currently $1.99 on Kindle, if you click the link it will take you right to where you can purchase it.
The Book Of Love by Lynn Weingarten (Unsolicited Review Copy) – Ditto.
How To Love by Katie Cotugno (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I loved this book! Sawyer + Reena <3333333
No One Else Can Have You by Kathleen Hale (Unsolicited Review Copy) – Second finished copy. Twitter seems to be saying I need to read this. All in due time.
The Beginning Of Everything by Robyn Schneider (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I’ve read this and it’s my first finished copy and it’s so pretty in person. Hmmmm.

STS 45-3

The Haunting Of Twenty-First Century America by William J. Birnes and Joel Martin (Unsolicited Review Copy) – This has a cool cover and it sounds interesting. Who knows when I will get to it though. Maybe when I need a break?
Dreams Of The Golden Age by Carrie Vaughn (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I am not too sure about this as it’s the sequel to a book I haven’t read, but Christina at A Reader Of Fictions gave it a good review.

STS 45-4

Autumn Rose by Abigail Gibbs (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I actually know nothing about these books, you guys, the cover gods are strong with this one. I love this cover. And it actually tempts me to read the book.
The Pigman by Paul Zindel (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I love this new cover. I haven’t actually read this classic YA book, but I am willing to give it a shot, especially because it is short and the cover is great.
Wait For You by J. Lynn (Unsolicited Review Copy) – Second copy, but yay a finished copy!
The Truth About Alice by Jennifer Mathieu (Requested Review Copy) – A book about rumors in small town Texas? Sign me up.
One Man Guy by Michael Barakiva (Requested Review Copy) – Perfect cover is perfect.

Gifted:

STS 45-5

Hollow City by Ransom Riggs – Thanks to my coblogger Allison who happened to have an extra copy and was happy to share the wealth. Yay for awesome cobloggers!
Into The Still Blue by Veronica Rossi + Under The Never Sky hat – Thanks to Veronica Rossi for sending me a signed finished copy of Into The Still Blue, this totally made my day. Also, lol Tony was tempted by the hat until he realized it was for a YA book.

  1. AHHHHH, jealousy over The Last Best Kiss especially. I looove Claire LaZebnik. Did you read The Trouble with Flirting? It’s fabulous and fun and you would like it.

ALSO, Dreams of the Golden Age is superhero fun times and Hollow City is boss. Also, your beanie will come in handy this winter because fuck these temperatures.

  2. So many awesome books!! I’m very interested in Meridian actually. Well, very curious. I got it for review as well. Also, Into the Still Blue is beyond fabulous!! SO sad to see that series end!!
    Enjoy all your goodies!!

  3. Nice haul of books. You got so many good books this week, that I’m salivating over some of those Harper Teen books.

  4. Super envious of AFTER THE END I’d sell my kidney to read that one! I love Amy’s books! I hope you can stop by mine.

  5. Wow! So many awesome books in your pile!!!! You’re so lucky! I’d love to read the Miss Peregrine’s series. 😉 My StS!

  6. Wowzers that’s quite a great haul this week. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous!

  7. I’m really surprised I hadn’t heard of How to Meet Boys before you and Jamie got it. Usually HarperTeen is on top of marketing most if not all of their books well, but I heard really nothing about that one. And it sounds interesting! But definitely one I’d have to wait for reviews to come in for because that could turn into a hot mess EASILY. Also holy shit Meridian is big. I’m super side-eyeing Exile because damn I hated The Lost Code but I’m all for second chances and whatnot. It doesn’t really sound like something I’d typically like but you know trying to expand my horizons and all that.

  8. Awesome haul! I also got The Truth About Alice this week =) I have a galley copy of Prisoner of Night and Fog that I can’t wait to get to as well. The cover and synopsis are both so interesting. I also love that Never Sky hat =P So much fun stuff!

  9. Wheee, so many awesome books! I read Be With Me recently – I actually hated Wait For You, so I was quite surprised when I liked Be With Me. I can’t wait to read Prisoner of Night and Fog! It sounds so amazing and oooo, historical fiction! I refuse to download Edelweiss books right now, so I’ll wait for the release date. I really enjoyed The Beginning of Everything! I see you’ve read it – YAY! 🙂

    Have a fantastic week, April!

    Check out my STS post!

  10. Great haul! Prisoner of Night and Fog is on my TBR list, and I’m dying to read No One Else Can Have You. Enjoy them! My STS

  11. WOW, amazing haul! You’ve got so many great books that I am absolutely dying to read. I hope you enjoy your books 🙂 My STS.
