Snow Like Ashes, the first of a trilogy, is such a cool book about identity, about community, about fear and bravery and love. It’s really one of those books that I am so excited to be recommending to all of you today.

THEN all the hype for Scarlet’s sequel, Lady Thief started popping up on the blogs I read and that was the final shove that I needed to buck up and read Scarlet. YOU GUYS THIS BOOK IS EVERYTHING I LIKE. For serious, why on earth did I wait so long to read it especially when it was in my possession this entire time, like in my possession before Lady Thief.

I had picked this audiobook to review and listen to because it is my genre kryptonite — middle grade epic fantasy. I love that grandiose huge arcing legends and kids rising up to defeat evil type of stuff, and let me just say that Matthew Jobin delivered on that expectation.
