The whole town is ready for the holidays: The Cookie Club is baking, Main Street glitters with lights, the carolers sing . . .There’s even a Christmas wedding.
When bodyguard Ryder Southerland sees his best friend’s sister Katie at an L.A. Christmas party, he mistakes the slinky blonde for a celebrity stalker and tackles her. Then they tackle each other . . . at his place. The next morning, Katie’s gone, and Ryder tells himself it’s for the best. It isn’t. Now, one Christmas later, Ryder’s falling for the woman he’s been missing in the town he hasn’t missed at all . . .
Katie Cheek’s outgrown the romantic fantasies she had about Ryder when she was fifteen. Katie’s packed their hot night away in a box labeled “fling”—or tried to. But Twilight’s bad boy is the best man in her brother’s wedding. And up-close and personal, Ryder’s impossible to ignore. So Katie can either go into hiding—or surrender to Christmas magic.

I think that Lori Wilde’s books are fast becoming a Christmas staple for me. A Wedding For Christmas is the latest in Wilde’s Christmas themed books set in Twilight, Texas. This book is a bit of a companion to I’ll Be Home For Christmas. However, you do not need to read any of the other books in her Twilight, Texas series in order to be able to enjoy A Wedding For Christmas. I, myself, absolutely devoured this book.

A Wedding For Christmas is about the girl whom Gabi switches homes with in I’ll Be Home For Christmas. So, in this book Katie Cheek, the girl from Twilight, Texas goes to Gabi’s awesome place in Malibu. She’s dressed in this gorgeous red sheath dress and at a party. She gets some wasabi spilled on her chest and has a reaction. So, she goes in search of a bathroom. Only, she bears a passing resemblance to a celebrity stalker, so this guy, tackles her. The guy being Ryder Sutherland, who is also from her home town. Ryder joined the army as an MP and left town basically the day he and 15 year old Katie shared a kiss. The two have not seen each other in years. Now Rhyder is in a security business. The tackle leads to adult times and then we flash forward to a year later.

Katie is now running her own successful organization business in Twilight. Her business basically follows the KonMari school of thought. She wasn’t sure she would see Ryder again. However, with the wedding of her brother Joe and Gabi coming up on Christmas Eve, it seems Rhyder is going to be back in town as Joe’s best man. Oh and also, Ryder’s dad, Jax, is coming out of the hospital but his dead wife, Ryder’s stepmom was a hoarder, so Katie has been called in to do some organizing so that the ranch is safe for Jax to live in. Of course, Katie and Ryder about to cross paths and their chemistry really sparks all over town.

A Wedding For Christmas by Lori Wilde really explores a complicated relationship and an interesting push and pull between Katie and Ryder. Obviously I was rooting for them to hook up and just stay together the entire time. Really, the book is about commitment and overcoming one’s fear to that very act, on both ends. I am absolutely becoming a fan of Wilde, so there’s not a doubt in my mind that I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for a Christmas romance that is certain to be more steamy than anything you’d watch on the Hallmark channel.

On A Scale Of One To Buddy The Elf, How Much Christmas Spirit Does This Book Have?

Well, A Wedding For Christmas by Lori Wilde is not quite as Christmas Cheer obsessed as Buddy The Elf. However, there are some Christmas activities, but there are really more wedding activities than anything else – including showers and bachelorette parties. Christmas and the holidays are really just a backdrop in this book. Yet, this book will definitely put you in a holiday mood.

  1. I did read I’ll Be Home for Christmas last year. I thought it was pretty cute. It’s the only book by Lori Wilde I’ve read. You know what Christmas Romance I really love. The MacGregor Bride’s by Nora Roberts. It’s a collection of three novellas about some of Daniel MacGregor’s granddaughters. He is super sneaky in making sure his granddaughters meet the right guy. He’s hilarious.
