When a simple round of truth or dare spins out of control, three girls find it's no longer a party game--it's do or die.

It all started on a whim: The game was a way for Tenley Reed to reclaim her popularity, a chance for perfect Caitlin "Angel" Thomas to prove she's more than her Harvard application. Loner Sydney Morgan wasn't even there; she was hiding behind her camera, as usual. But when all three start receiving mysterious dares long after the party has ended, they're forced to play along, or risk exposing their darkest secrets.

How far will Tenley, Caitlin, and Sydney go to keep the truth from surfacing? And who's behind this twisted game? Set against the backdrop of Echo Bay, an isolated beach town haunted by misfortune, Truth or Dare is the first book in the Truth or Dare series, and will keep readers in suspense from beginning to end.

Why Did I Listen To Truth Or Dare by Jacqueline Green?

Truth Or Dare by Jacqueline Green had SUCH a cool cover back in like 2013 when it came out. I mean, I liked the green color and the whole keeping a secret motif. However, I didn’t really prioritize it because I just had not been in the mood to read it. Frankly, it sounded a little similar to Pretty Little Liars to me. Yet, when I saw this audiobook pop up on Scribd, I knew I had to FINALLY read it.

What’s The Story Here?

Green’s Truth Or Dare follows three main characters – Tenley, Caitlin and Sydney. All three girls live in Echo Bay. They end up in this ongoing game of Truth Or Dare, right. So each girl has a secret. They have to obey the game in order to prevent the town from finding out about the things they are hiding. The dares eventually escalate. Eventually things come to a head and the suspense is up to this super high level while we all try and guess who exactly is issuing the dares.

How Did I Like Truth Or Dare?

So, this was a pretty suspenseful book. There’s a lot of edge of seat action that happens. There are parts where I was like on pins and needles to see what exactly would happen. I wanted to know how things would play out. Plus when I thought I had it figured out, I was kind of wrong. Also I did find Sydney’s perspective to be the most interesting of the girls. She’s not as privileged as Caitlin and Tenley so I just gelled with her character more. However, although Truth Or Dare ends on a cliffhanger, I will not be continuing the series.

How’s The Narration?

Katie Koster is the audiobook narrator. She does an adequate job and modulates her voice for the different characters. I didn’t zone out a lot. She kept me feeling the suspense. Actually, I am glad I listened because I would not have bothered to read this book earlier if not for it being available via audio.
