Not gonna lie, I worship at the altar of Cassey Ho. I first came across her when doing a fitness challenge with some friends using a closed Facebook group for accountability. Someone posted the Call Me Maybe Squats Song Challenge and I was hooked on the positivity of Cassey Ho and her fun routines set to music that I actually like. As such, I do own Blogilates themed clothing, the journal, and the 8 Week Hot Body Meal Plan. So, naturally, reading Hot Body Year Round was the next step in my fitness journey.

Cassey Ho’s Hot Body Year Round is aesthetically pleasing. It is full color with a water color looking theme. The pages are a bit more sturdy than a magazine’s pages and of high quality paper. The aesthetic of the book is very in line with the aesthetic of Ho’s Blogilates business. So, if visuals are a thing that matters to you – you will enjoy the tangible aspect of this book.

As for content, the book is divided by seasons. There is spring, summer, fall, and winter. Within each subsection are exercise routines, a grocery list and inspiring notes from Cassey. I do not love Ho’s diet plans, but I do like how upbeat she is about clean eating. It makes me want to try more raw foods. I like to use her recipes for inspiration, not for dietary guidelines. Each recipe is accompanied by a picture of the food which I liked.

As for the exercises, the movies are not hard to follow. Each exercise move is depicted with two photographs at the very least. I recommend that you view her videos for better clarity though. I did like the wide variety of exercise routines contained within the book.

In all, Hot Body Year Round is a fast read. It is a beautifully designed book. I will keep Cassey Ho’s book on my shelf for quick references as well as to use for an exercise routine when I am in a pinch. However, I think that I get more mileage out of her youtube channel, website, and specific meal plan that I purchased. I think this book would most appeal to people who already love Blogilates as well as people who are just starting out on their fitness and health journey who are in need of positive reinforcement and guidance.

  1. I love Blogilates and have been doing Cassey’s workouts for two years now via Youtube so am really interested in what her books are like. To be honest I kind of thought since her videos are great and like you I don’t love her meal plans that I would probably not buy her book since I can get everything I need from the videos. I guess in some ways its nice to be able to ‘support’ a Youtuber through actually paying for their products once in a while too. Thanks for the review!
