Stacking The Shelves (69) | Book Haul

Another week come and gone! Aside from being on call this weekend, I am looking forward to zero plans and reading ALL THE BOOKS, or really like four books. I finished Salt & Storm by Kendall Kulper last night, I am about 88 pages away from finishing Five Summers by Una LaMarche, 2.5 hours from finishing my audiobook, and I have a graphic novel plus a Netgalley book that I want to finish this weekend. (Note: I just finished Five Summers while waiting for the video to upload, and I have 1.5 hours left of the audiobook and less than half of my graphic novel left to read). Perhaps I am being overly ambitious, but honestly, I love that feeling of finishing books. What about you guys?

For Review:

Galaxy’s Most Wanted by John Kloepfer (Unsolicited Finished Copy) – This is cute, looks fun, and is short. Plus there’s pictures. I think I will read it.

The Zombie Chasers: Nothing Left To Ooze vol. 5 by John Kloepfer (Unsolicited Finished Copy) – Fifth in a series, I think I’ll pass. But, you guys might be interested in it if you are an elementary school or middle school librarian, or if you have kids. It sounds like a fun Halloween read and a neat series at least.

Case File 13: Making The Team vol. 2 by J. Scott Savage (Unsolicited Finished Copy) – Starting this series seems more realistic as there’s only one book I’d have to start and obtain. I don’t know though. Also, another fun looking Halloween read for Middle Grade fans.

Case File 13: Evil Twins vol. 3 by J. Scott Savage (Unsolicited Finished Copy) – I may or may not read this. Cool concept though. I just need to get my hands on volume one.

The Graveyard Book vol. 1 graphic adaptation by Neil Gaiman and P. Craig Russell (Unsolicited Finished Copy) – OMG YES I AM ACTUALLY BEYOND THE MOON EXCITED FOR THIS BOOK. Not that I am not beyond the moon excited for other books, but this one is extra special, ya dig?

From Edelweiss and Netgalley:

Liars, Inc by Paula Stokes – Boom clap? The sound of my heart as I download this book?

Listen, Slowly by Thanhha Lai – I loved Inside Out And Back Again and I think I am going to love this verse novel too.

Little Peach by Peggy Kern – ANOTHER VERSE BOOK, but this one is about a child prostitute and it is in the style of Ellen Hopkins so I am expecting sad and I can’t frickin wait to read this.

Everything That Makes You by Moriah McStay – This sounds like a gorgeous, hard hitting contemporary book. Cannot wait.

A Wicked Thing by Rhiannon Thomas – I am so stoked for this Sleeping Beauty retelling. This is the year of abundant retellings it seems, and I LOVE IT ALL.

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard – That cover, though. And it is fantasy and it sounds kind of brutal so it is right up my alley.

The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand – It has been way too long since there’s been a Cynthia Hand book in my life.

Bone Gap by Laura Ruby – This is one badass cover. Also, this sounds like another hard hitting contemporary book. I love all the contemporary books!

The Distance Between Lost And Found by Kathryn Holmes – This looks like it’s a YA that melds survival, bullying and religion and that means I can’t fricken wait to start reading it.

Geek Girl by Holly Smale – This sounds hysterical — pretty much I can’t wait. ALSO OMG IT SOUNDS LIKE MODEL BEHAVIOR BUT WITHOUT THE SWITCHING.

My Heart And Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga – ALL THE CONTEMPORARIES. This is another contemporary book about a girl who wants to kill herself and it sounds sad and amazing and great.

Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli – This sounds totally AMAZING. It’s an LGBTQ YA book and oh my goodness I can’t wait to start reading it.

  1. Great haul, April. We got a few of the same books. I was looking at Bone Gap, but I am honestly not sure how I feel about it. I don’t think it will be one I end up getting an ARC of, I will just wait and see what people think of it and buy it if it sounds good. I hope you enjoy everything, and look forward to seeing your reviews!

  2. It’s like Christmas in July over on EW, huh? I was also tempted by several of those titles, and very excited for the new Cynthia Hand! Yay for all the awesome contemporaries.
    Happy reading!

  3. There were a lot of books this week that look very good. The MG stuff looks really cute. I hope you love all your new books.
