Ahhhh, it is that time of year again, only the most wonderful time — where we celebrate Halloween and then go onto thank veterans for being awesome and serving our country and then YAY THANKSGIVING followed by Christmas. You guys, I love this time. Even better, it’s time for the annual Penguin Putnam Warehouse Sale in Conklin, NY.
I was recently forwarded an image stating the dates and where the Penguin sale is taking place because it is not in the old Maine’s Warehouse this year. Here’s the image, no worries I will transcribe it here:
Here are the dates of the 2013 Penguin Book Warehouse Sale in Conklin NY:
- Saturday, November 9 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
- Monday, November 11 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
- Tuesday, November 12 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
- Wednesday, November 13 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
- Thursday, November 14 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
- Friday, November 15 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
- Saturday, November 16 1 p.m. -5 p.m.
There are all kinds of books at the sale – adult fiction, young adult fiction (like all the new releases from 2012, etc), cook books, non-fiction, audiobooks, children’s books and more. I can totally vouch for how much money I’ve saved and for the awesome amount of books I obtained at rock bottom prices at the sale.
The new location of the 2013 Penguin Book Warehouse Sale:
Teamworld Building, 350 Broome Corporate Parkway Conklin, NY
I am not sure why it changed, because I liked going to the Maine’s warehouse. Oh well.
They accept cash or check only. If you write a check, bring two forms of ID. Usually I bring about $100 or more in cash. The later you go in the sale, the more prices will drop.
A few tips for the 2013 Penguin Book Warehouse Sale in Conklin, NY:
Arrive early, I cannot stress this enough. Usually I get there by 3 p.m. and yes, wait, but I am always in the first wave allowed in the warehouse.
Bring something that rolls to help with your books. They get heavy.
Bring a friend or family member, waiting in line is the worst, and having someone to talk to makes the time go by faster.
Be polite to the people working the sale and to your fellow book lovers in line, it will make your experience a thousand times more pleasant.
Bundle up, it gets super cold outside in upstate NY in November. There might even be snow. I always come with a scarf, a hat, gloves, my fleece AND my winter coat. Being frostbitten is for suckers.
Have a blast, because seriously you are lucky to live within driving distance of an area that does such an extreme, great sale of new books.

Ohhhhh this so tempting, but like a 3 hour drive, and I normally work on Saturdays until 2. I’m going to have to think about this one. I’m always really bummed when I miss it every year…
I’m so excited! I think I will be going on Monday, because I have to work Saturday.
I am so jealous! I didn’t know this existed, and now I am even sadder that I live in already pretty sad Indiana! 🙁
How early do you suggest getting there? What’s the wait time normally like on the first day if you aren’t in the first wave?
First year going! 🙂
I really wish I lived up that way so I could go to this! Not sure I would enjoy freezing my butt off, but yay for cheep books! 🙂
Though I swear some of these book end up in local Ollies nere me. I often find gems there. Mostly from S&S and Penguin books
Great post. Just want to add even though today is the last day keep in mind every year the book sale is going on Santa makes an appearance on the last day just as he has since they have brought it back. He is even one of the parking attendants. I am sure he will be out next year as well but give Santa a big thanks too for he has given 3 sons to the military that he has not seen in years. And he attends out of his own heart and good will. Now if only Putnam would smarten up and publish Santas appearance to help last day attendance.
That’s so cool!
Thanks to Santa’s sons for serving in the military, that is amazing!
