First and foremost, Book Crush For Kids and Teens-Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment and Interest by Nancy Pearl is a reference book. It is not a book with a plot or a story, and it should be read as such. I believe this book absolutely belongs on the shelf of any one who has an interest in children’s lit and YA.

I personally liked that Book Crush was my own copy. Personally, I enjoyed going through it with a pencil and lightly marking with a small X the books I had already read. In addition, I also lightly underlined books I want to read. If you don’t have your own copy, you obviously can’t write in this book. I suppose there are alternatives to writing in the book. See, I don’t normally write in books. However, I felt it was okay with Book Crush For Kids And Teens by librarian Nancy Pearl.

The conversational tone in which the books are presented made me want to read an incredible amount of the books in here. I skimmed most of the children’s section, but still found some children’s classics to add to my TBR such as Mr. Popper’s Penguins and Pippi Longstocking.

Don’t read Book Crush For Kids And Teens by Nancy Pearl expecting to see every single YA book you’ve ever read. This book is obviously not the end-all be-all on young adult lit. Read it for what it is. This is a place to find recommendations that aren’t mainstream and a place to find hidden gems.

I would recommend not reading Book Crush by author Nancy Pearl straight through like I did. Instead you should browse through it for recommendations. I’m not going to recommend a drink to go with this book as it is a reference book, not a book with a plot or characters.
