THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
One Christmas wish, two brothers, and a lifetime of hope are on the line for hapless Maelyn Jones in In a Holidaze, the quintessential holiday romantic novel by Christina Lauren, the New York Times bestselling author of The Unhoneymooners.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…but not for Maelyn Jones. She’s living with her parents, hates her going-nowhere job, and has just made a romantic error of epic proportions.
But perhaps worst of all, this is the last Christmas Mae will be at her favorite place in the world—the snowy Utah cabin where she and her family have spent every holiday since she was born, along with two other beloved families. Mentally melting down as she drives away from the cabin for the final time, Mae throws out what she thinks is a simple plea to the universe: Please. Show me what will make me happy.
The next thing she knows, tires screech and metal collides, everything goes black. But when Mae gasps awake…she’s on an airplane bound for Utah, where she begins the same holiday all over again. With one hilarious disaster after another sending her back to the plane, Mae must figure out how to break free of the strange time loop—and finally get her true love under the mistletoe.
Jam-packed with yuletide cheer, an unforgettable cast of characters, and Christina Lauren’s trademark “downright hilarious†(Helen Hoang, author of The Bride Test) hijinks, this swoon-worthy romantic read will make you believe in the power of wishes and the magic of the holidays.
Y’all, I have inhaled In A Holidaze by Christina Lauren. Clearly I am so far behind on the trend of reading their books. I’ve only read Beautiful Bastard and Sublime. Otherwise, that is pretty much it. And wow, have I been missing out! As it turns out though, when it comes to catching up or dipping your toes into the water, books about Christmas are quite ideal. And this Groundhogs Day-esque book was just what the doctor ordered for me.
When Christina Lauren’s In A Holidaze opens up, Maelyn Jones is having a terrible day. She hooked up with her friend the night before and it was TERRIBLE. Then, she finds out that the chosen family who she’s spent every holiday and summers with are going to sell the Utah cabin where they come together every year. AND THEN, on the way to the airport she gets into a terrible car accident with her parents and brother.
Just prior to the accident, Maelyn asks the universe to show her what will make her happy. And so, the accident happens and she wakes up on a plane heading to Utah, her vacation starting over again. As it turns out, Maelyn repeats her first two days over a few times and when she does start to get it right, she’s afraid, because what if she is sent back to repeat it all over again.
I must be a real sap because I LOVED this book. Sure, In A Holidaze took me a couple chapters to get into and to really get my bearings on the different characters. However, once Maelyn was starting to do things right and live with less fear, I loved it. As a person who is quite risk averse, I could relate so much to Maelyn. She stays in these situations like work that aren’t ideal because she’s scared to take the leap and do something different. She also was scared at first to confess her feelings about who she really wanted. It is extraordinary though what happens when she womans up and starts going for it, and yes, when that all happens and with how things played out, I turned into a sap.
On A Scale Of One To Buddy The Elf, How Much Christmas Spirit Does In A Holidaze Have?
In A Holidaze is bursting at the seams with Christmas spirit. So, again the premise is that Maelyn’s parents are part of this group of best friends who go to a cabin in Utah every year to celebrate the holidays. While at the cabin, there is an itinerary of events which basically follows a tradition. There’s sledding, presents, Christmas shopping, and much more. I won’t spoil, but that bit was a big part of the appeal of this book to me. It really put me in a festive, wonderful mood. And well, as I continue to consume holiday books I hope they are as great as In A Holidaze.

I’ve only read Christina Lauren’s new(er) stuff and was worried about this one because a handful of their more recent books have skewed more WF. I can’t wait to read this one, I love a book that you can’t stop reading!
I have read only the Unhoneymooners and I loved it. I have this on my shelf, I might pick it up in a day or two. Thanks for the review.
