USA Today bestselling author Jenny Holiday concludes her beloved royal Christmas series with an unforgettable romance about a confident American woman and the strait-laced royal advisor who falls hopelessly in love with her.
Matteo Benz has spent his life serving at the pleasure of the Eldovian crown. His work is his life and his life, well...he doesn’t have much of one. When he is tasked to aid a management consultant who has been flown in to help straighten out the king’s affairs, he is instantly disturbed by her brash American manner—as well by an inconvenient attraction to the brainy beauty.
Cara Delaney is in Eldovia to help clean up the king’s financial affairs, but soon finds herself at odds with the very proper Mr. Benz. As intrigued by his good looks as she is annoyed by his dedication to tradition for its own sake, she slowly begins to see the real man behind the royal throne.
As they work together to return Eldovia to its former glory during the country’s magical Christmas season, Matteo discovers he is falling hopelessly in love with the unconventional American. But a man who has devoted his life to tradition doesn’t change easily. Can he become the man Cara needs, or will their love be another sacrifice to the crown?
So This Is Christmas by Jenny Holiday is the final book in Holiday’s Christmas In Eldovia trilogy. I thought it did a nice job wrapping up the series – even though we don’t really see the previous main characters in this book. So This Is Christmas follows Cara Delaney who is called in to help with luxury watch company Morneau which is Eldovia’s economic driver. Matteo Benz, equerry, is the main contact that she works with. He is very polished and detail oriented. However, don’t count Cara out. She’s intelligent, driven, and a business whiz. Set from Thanksgiving up until Christmas — this story spans the holiday season. At first, the relationship between Cara and Matteo is antagonistic, but they manage to win each other over.
I think if you like Hallmark movies but wish they were a tad more steamy with some conflict – you would like Jenny Holiday’s Christmas In Eldovia books. I like that the main characters in So This Is Christmas are not wealthy. Cara works hard and is doing well for herself, but she’s putting her money toward buying a duplex for her parents and herself to live in. She grew up really poor. As for Matteo, you get this impression of what his life is like, but it is wrong. Oh and also, speaking of both of them, I liked how they thawed towards each other and how their relationship chemistry plays out.
On A Scale Of One To Buddy The Elf, How Much Christmas Spirit Does So, This Is Christmas by Jenny Holiday Have?
When I want a book set in a land that is basically Christmas-land but with royalty — I think I am going to immediately think of the Eldovia books. So This Is Christmas even has some Santa Claus theming. There’s a sleigh ride. We experience outdoor eating in the snow as well as outdoor sports. I felt the holiday spirit while reading this book.
