Why Did I Listen To Restless Rancher by Jennifer Ryan?
Restless Rancher by Jennifer Ryan is the second in the Wild Rose Ranch series. As I listened to the first one and found it enjoyable, it seemed like the second one would be a good choice for audio as well. Plus, all the other books I’ve read by Jennifer Ryan have been via audio. The vast majority have also been narrated by the same person – Coleen Marlo. So, I knew what I was getting into. There’s something to be said for familiarity and comfort.
What’s The Story Here?
Austin Hubbard is down on his luck. He’s lost his reputation and well, his ranch needs rebuilding. Enter Sonya Tucker. She is an accountant and she’s here to help Austin rebuild. At first she’s this fiery, sassy pain in the ass to Austin. But of course, the sparks start flying. And it turns out, she’s really great at her job. Oh and also? Sonya was raised at the Wild Rose Ranch brothel where her mother worked. She, however, is very successful and so hard working. Also? It turns out that Austin has got some family issues going on and they’re about to rear their ugly head — but will they come between Austin and Sonya? You’ll have to check out Restless Rancher to find out.
What Did I Think Of Restless Rancher?
I had a good time listening to Restless Rancher. Was it a life changing western romance novel? No, not at all. I don’t always need that though. This was a good book to put on and then just kind of zone into listening. I genuinely need that sometimes. Also, Sonya is completely wonderful. Austin I could take or leave, but was such a Sonya fan. As it turns out, I will be listening to more books by Jennifer Ryan — pretty much whatever is already physically on my shelf I will be sure to add to my audiobook from the library rotation.
How’s The Narration?
As previously mentioned, the audiobook of Restless Rancher is narrated by Coleen Marlo. It is 8 hours and 16 minutes long. I am pretty much used to Marlo’s narration at this point, so I felt comfortable listening to this book at a faster speed. Marlo has a lovely narrating voice, but she’s able to add some grit as well which is quite fitting for Jennifer Ryan’s genre of romance.
