'Georgette Heyer with a sexy twist' Eloisa James
Ready.
Raised in the countryside by her overprotective uncle, Mina Penny's dream of a triumphant London season is finally here. She determined her perfect match long ago: Rafe Bentley, the wickedest rake of them all. There's only one very large, very unyielding obstacle: Rafe's brother Andrew, the reclusive Duke of Thorndon.
Aim.
This was supposed to be simple. Duke goes to London. Duke selects suitable bride. Love match? Not a chance. But when Drew meets Mina, she complicates everything. How can a lady armed with such beauty and brains fall for his irresponsible degenerate of a brother? Drew vows to save her from heartbreak and ruin, no matter the cost.
Desire!
But Mina is no damsel in distress. She's daring, intuitive, passionate . . . and halfway to melting Drew's cold heart. And although Mina thought she knew exactly what she wanted, one breathtakingly seductive kiss from Andrew changes everything. Now Mina must decide between long-held dreams and dangerous new desires. Could her true destiny lie in the arms of a duke?

Why Did I Listen To One Fine Duke by Lenora Bell?

Y’all, I actually am not 100% sure why I had started listening to One Fine Duke by Lenora Bell. After all, it is third in the School For Dukes series and I have not read any other books from the series. Honestly, this is a book that I saw had an audiobook on Hoopla and it was on my TBR cart. So, I grabbed it off the cart to listen to and unhaul. Plus, I wanted to try a historical romance author that is pretty much new to me.

What’s The Story Here?

One Fine Duke is about Mina and Andrew. Mina has been raised in the countryside by her uncle who is quite reclusive. Now, however, she is in London and ready to enjoy the city. Mina also has a plan to get married to the wickedest rake of all, Rafe Bentley. Standing in her way though is Rafe’s brother, Andrew, who won’t let the marriage happen. That’s because Andrew knows that Rafe is pretty much a degenerate. So, Andrew decides to be the one to marry Mina. As it turns out, the two have some pretty solid physical chemistry. Maybe Mina’s plans aren’t for the best and Andrew truly would be better for her.

How Did I Like One Fine Duke?

On the whole, I didn’t really have a ton of feelings about One Fine Duke. At this point, I will come back to listen to or physically read the other Lenora Bell books on my shelf, because it wasn’t half bad. Also, Mina and Andrew are both pretty likable. The physical chemistry between the two was good as well and did really seem to work. However, this did not make a huge impression or anything on me, which is okay. Not everything needs to leave a big impression.

How’s The Narration?

The audiobook is narrated by Beverley A. Crick and is 9 hours and 26 minutes long. I listened to this mostly sped up. So, I thought that I hadn’t listened to Crick’s narration before, but I guess I was wrong. Regardless, her narration worked well for One Fine Duke and I have no issues with the production values of this audiobook.
