I seriously just love Debbie Mason’s books. Christmas On Reindeer Road is the fourth book I’ve read by Debbie Mason and I’ll admit, I have read absolutely none of her books in order. I may be missing some context, but still, I just love these books. Eventually, I think I’ll go back and read the ones I missed, in order, just for context. Also, I believe it will enhance my enjoyment. Anyways, this book had me smiling, laughing, and tearing up and I can’t blame it all on pregnancy hormones.
Christmas On Reindeer Road follows Mallory Maitland, a widow who is moving with her stepsons to Highland Falls, after she has just gotten a job to run a program aimed at improving the lives of the local senior citizens. Unfortunately for Mallory, when she makes a detour at the truck stop diner before heading to her new home her stepsons fake like she’s been starving and mistreating them. So, Mallory ends up under the scrutiny of social services. She also draws the attention of police chief Gabe Buchanan, who also happens to be a widower with three sons who lives next door to Mallory on Reindeer Road.
Of course, sparks and chemistry sizzles between Mallory and Gabe. Unfortunately, Gabe’s in laws want custody of the boys and they have money. So, the worst thing he can do is cavort with the new woman with the wild teenage boys. Gabe tries to resist and Mallory tries to hang back, but Gabe’s youngest son, Teddy has another plan in mind.
I just loved Christmas On Reindeer Road. I am not sure the likelihood of widow and widower finding each other, at such young ages, but I also did not care. Mallory and Gabe are a wonderful pairing. Getting to their Happily Ever After was so worth the journey. Plus, there’s so many challenges that I felt invested, but nothing in the book felt impossible to overcome. Also? The Teddy character was so precocious and adorable, but I am a little bit biased towards people named Teddy.
On A Scale Of One To Buddy The Elf, How Much Christmas Spirit Does Christmas On Reindeer Road Have?
Christmas On Reindeer Road has a holiday parade, a bazaar, they go to church quite a few times, and there’s a few more special events. Debbie Mason’s latest captures the joy of the season, but also the sentiment. You have a few characters who are reluctant to embrace the holidays and then characters who are completely overboard for it. I loved it. This book uplifted my spirits and put me in such a good holiday mood.
