Based on the song of the same name by Benjamin Scheuer, Hibernate with Me is a gentle reminder that no matter how sad, small, or scared you feel, you are always worthy of love, and that brighter days are always ahead.

Sometimes you feel small. Sometimes you feel shy. Sometimes you feel worried, and you might not know why.

Sometimes you want nobody to see. Darling, you can hibernate with me.

If you feel scared or lost, or even just a little shy, love means there will always be a place to hibernate together.

A place that’s cozy, warm, and safe.

I am so excited to feature Hibernate With Me by Benjamin Scheuer, illustrated by Jemima Williams today on Good Books & Good Wine! Now that I have a child, my eyes are peeled for adorable picture books to read before bed. You see like many other parents out there we read a few books before bed with our son. Usually, it is the same books that he picks out over and over – Twas The Night Before Christmas, Babies, Goodnight Moon, and That’s Not My Reindeer. So, I try pretty hard to slip in a book that is NOT Christmas related and something new to him every now and then.

Hibernate With Me is a really sweet book that gets me right in the mom feels. It features a bear cub and its parent.

Hibernate With Me is a really sweet book that gets me right in the mom feels. It features a bear cub and its parent. The bear cub has all these different feelings and emotions. The parent bear validates those emotions. They let the cub know that they can always hibernate with the parent. Essentially that parent bear is a safe place always for the cub. I like that message a lot, I guess. It resonates with me for sure.

As for the illustrations, Jemima Williams does a fine job. Each pages seems full of color and movement. There’s enough visual interest for my toddler’s eyes. Yet, it never feels overwhelming. This truly is a good before bed kind of book. It’s great for winter too.

In all, get this book as a baby shower gift, birthday gift, or a just because book for the sweet tot in your life.
