It was a different world when I first read The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. I was working at a music store in the mini mall, right next to a Borders. DO YOU GUYS REMEMBER BORDERS? I was flush with minimum wage cash and buying books at Borders like they were going to run out (little did I know). In June 2009 just before I began my student teaching, The Lightning Thief, first of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series caught my eye. I ended up marathoning it along with the newest Sarah Dessen, Lock And Key (and by newest I mean paperback because I was poor). I consumed this book on the sidelines while the current person in my life was coaching soccer. I remember Riordan’s book being the first middle grade since Harry Potter that I just really fell in love with. Later on, I would fondly listen to books in the spinoff series while driving around different schools in my county to teach students about healthy relationships. So, needless to say, Percy Jackson has played a huge role in my life.
I am BEYOND honored to be a part of the #PercyPack and to be able to give away this amazing box set of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Lightning Thief.
ABOUT THE SERIES
Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can’t seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse–Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy’s mom finds out, she knows it’s time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he’ll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends–one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena–Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.

Hard to pick one but since I love the ocean I’ll say Neptune. On the other hand I like the stories that have Hades as a tortured god and not a mean one.
I love the Percy Jackson series! This particular edition is goooorgeous. My favorite Greek god, at the moment anyway, is Athena. I’ve always admired her, and I think she’d be my patron goddess if I lived during the time they were highly revered in Greek culture 😉
My favorite Greek god has always been Athena. She isn’t at her best in Percy Jackson, since she has a contentious relationship with Poseidon, but I love her anyway. (I also love that she’s Annabeth’s mom.) Even if I didn’t already love her, the fact that Athena is Minerva’s counterpart (love me some McGonagall, too!) would seal the deal.
Athena!
I think I like Hades the best. So dark and mysterious.
Hmmmmm. That is difficult picking a favorite. Probably Artemis or Apollo.
I would probably say Athena is my favorite god, but Percy is definitely my favorite character.
Can I just say percy because he is a God? No? Okay fine…I’ve always been partial to Athena! <3
Thank you so much for this chance!
I adore this series. Seriously one of my top 5 YA series. I cannot believe the book’s been out for 10 years though!!! Damn I’m old. 🙂
I love Greek Mythology, so it’s hard to pick. I’d say Athena. She’s wise and strong.
My favorite greek god is Poseidon because he is very powerful and strong!
