‘Papers is all I got Wish I could catch a breeze’: November News

November is SUCH an awesome month. I have 3 days of holiday pay (HOLLA), meals which basically amount to food porn, and a whole week off for vacation!

I thought I’d share a few November happenings with you!

Newsies, Jack Kelly

Cuz It's Two For A Penny If I take Too Many Weasel'll Just Make Me Eat Them After

First: November is NaNoWriMo

I’m not participating, since I don’t exactly have any story ideas.  However, I saw an awesome post on Problogger about using NaNoWriMo to write a year’s worth of blog posts. I don’t plan on going quite that extreme, but I do plan on writing up my current-need-to-be-reviewed reviews which is at 18 as well as pre-scheduling a few weeks worth of Top Ten Tuesday and writing a few discussion posts.

Second: November is Just Contemporary

Shanyn and Ashley are hosting a month-long celebration of young adult contemporary novels. They have contests, and interviews and discussion posts and reviews. Check it out and maybe write a few contemporary reviews yourself.

Third: November is Aussie Month

Carla, one of my favorite people EVER is hosting an entire month dedicated to books penned by Australians. She even has a post on where to get your hands on these awesome books. I don’t know about you, but I totally want to read some Melina Marchetta after checking out Carla’s Aussie month.

Fourth: Audiobooks Week

I don’t even know why that gets a headline. But, I’m not exactly hosting an audiobooks week or anything HOWEVER I have one week where solely audiobook reviews are posting instead of regular books. November 14-18 and possibly the weekends, stop by Good Books & Good Wines for some audiobook reviews.

Fifth: October Advertisers Thank You

So, I totally monetized at the end of September. And well, I think if you pay money for an ad on my site, you deserve a thank you.

Thank you to:

Michelle Maddow author of Remembrance – you can purchase a copy of Remembrance for your kindle right HERE.

Phillip William Simpson author of Rapture – you can purchase a copy of Rapture for your kindle right HERE.

Sixth: Vacation!

I am totally taking a staycation from November 20-27. What does that mean? Pretty much nothing except I will be doing a ton of reading and will be on twitter a lot.

  1. I <3 the Newsies. Now I want to watch the movie!

Can't wait to see what audios you review. I'm listening to The Maze Runner and All These Things I've Done right now. Both are pretty good.

  2. I am so excited for your staycation! 🙂 I also love the title of this post! I saw this movie for the first time only a few years ago and loved it!

  3. I’m with you on looking forward to vacation this month. Thanksgiving will be the first time I’m going on a real vacation since the summer. Oh sweet sweet days off, how I love thee.

  4. *this is a pretty solid post. i like it.
*my hats off to all of the writers out there. i have no imagination and never claimed to, so i am not participating, but i am a huge cheerleader for the ones doing it. i heard the night circus came from an event like this, which is pretty bitchin, right? cause that book is like my best of 2011.
*contemps aren’t my favorite genre, i’m a fantasy/sci-fi gal myself, but you can’t deny the awesomeness that is just contemporary, and i think shanyn and ashley are doing an off-the-hook job at it. my hats off to them.
*audiobooks are underrated, which is sad. i’m currently reading never let me go by kazuo ishiguro and it’s pretty exciting. i’m actually following along with the book, which is a first for me. it’s taking a lot of time, but i find it RIDICULOUSLY SOOTHING at the end of the day. i’m so freaking serious. during the day when i can’t actually hold a book, i’m listening to the 39 clues books. middle grade forever.
*i’m always curious about how lucrative monetizing is, but my blog is very small, so i’m sure it wouldn’t be very lucrative for me yet.
*also, enjoy your vacation. they are always warranted and always too short!
