The daring members of the Stud Club are reckless gamblers and no strangers to risk—until love raises the stakes in Twice Tempted by a Rogue. Luck is a double-edged sword for brooding war hero Rhys St. Maur. His death wish went unanswered on the battlefield, while fate allowed the murder of his good friend in the elite gentlemen’s society known as the Stud Club. Out of options, Rhys returns to his ancestral home on the moors of Devonshire, expecting anything but a chance at redemption in the arms of a beautiful innkeeper who dares him to take on the demons of his past—and the sweet temptation of a woman’s love.
Meredith Maddox believes in hard work, not fate, and romance isn’t part of her plan. But when Rhys returns, battle-scarred, world-weary, and more dangerously attractive than ever, the lovely widow is torn between determination and desire. As a deep mystery and dangerous smugglers threaten much more than their passionate reckoning, Meredith discovers that she must trust everything to a wager her heart placed long ago.
From the Paperback edition.
I’m pretty sure I can’t begin every single romance review with Author X heats up the page with Book XYZ, because that gets a bit repetitive, but you know, I notice the sexytimes, given how much of the YA I read lacks sexytimes, and MG, well no sexytimes please because that is gross.
H’okay, so Twice Tempted By A Rogue by Tessa Dare is book two in the Stud Club trilogy. However, unlike YA, I notice romance can standalone even when in a series (take note)! In this steamy read, the focus is on member Rhys St. Maur, a war hero with an insane amount of luck. Rhys gets in all these fights and can’t lose because he is uber lucky. He joins up with the army, leaving his hometown of Devonshire. Of course, he’s trying to outrun a troubled past. Right, so then he comes back and flies into the arms of Meredith Maddox, proprietor of the Three Hounds Inn.
I sort of get ahead of myself. Okay, so what really happens is that Meredith has had this massive huge crush on Rhys for pretty much forever. He was never really into her, until he comes back and sees how she’s grown up. They spend most of the book having the hots for each other, which pretty much culminates into grown up sexy times.
There are awwws aplenty.
Straight up if you are down for two stubborn leads who obviously are going to end up together despite the consistent battle of wills, you should read Twice Tempted By A Rogue by Tessa Dare.

I think that’s one thing I love about Romance Series novels — they can pretty well stand alone. (And with slight follow up of previous characters!)
