From the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Wait for YouDo Teresa and Jase have a real shot at getting together or will life get in the way? Teresa Hamilton is having a rough year—she's in love with her big brother's best friend, but he hasn't spoken to her since they shared a truly amazing, mind-blowing, life-changing kiss. Then she got out of a terrible relationship. Now an injury is threatening to end her dance career for good. It's time for plan B: college. And maybe she'll have a chance to convince Jase that what they have together is real.Jase Winstead has a huge secret that he's not telling anyone—especially not his best friend's incredibly beautiful sister. Even though he and Teresa shared the hottest kiss of his life, he knows that his responsibilities must take priority. He certainly doesn't have time for a relationship. But it doesn't help that all he can think about is kissing the one girl who could ruin everything for him.As they're thrown together more and more, Jase and Teresa can't keep denying their feelings for each other. But a familiar danger looms and tragedy strikes. As the campus recovers, the star-crossed couple must decide what they're willing to risk to be together and what they're willing to lose if they're not. . . .

You know how sometimes you go through something in real life and you just need a light and fluffy, maybe dramatic book to distract you but to not break your brain? Does that feeling sound familiar to you at all? The book I chose for this mood was Be With Me by J. Lynn. I kept passing it on my shelf and picking it up and putting it down. Eventually my mood won out and I ended up reading the second book of the Wait For You series and not regretting it one bit, because it was the medicine that the doctor ordered. It was the first book that had called out to me in awhile. It reignited my need of books to alleviate stress. So, you know, this book just worked perfectly for me in my time of need.

Remember Cam and Avery? This book, Be With Me, is all about Cam’s little sister Theresa Hamilton and his best friend, Jase Winstead. Theresa is going to the same college as Cam and is a freshman. College is her backup plan, if her knee is unable to heal after a devastating injury, if she’s unable to dance professionally. So, anyways, Theresa decides on elementary education as a major, not that it’s relevant to the overall plot, but I just wanted to share that tidbit for some odd reason. Anyways, Theresa and Jase had previously kissed before she began going to the same college. Now there is this undeniable spark and chemistry between the two. It’s an attraction that deepens with cupcakes and rides to class. Tess and Jase will be tested in multiple ways, can what is between them handle it? Clearly if you look at the cover of Be With Me, you can guess. But let’s be real, these books are never about the destination, but about the journey and the plot which is SO WORTH IT.

First things first, I liked Tess so much more than Avery. I mean, I liked Avery okay, but Tess is more awesome. She takes no crap from anyone. However, that attitude is hard earned. You see, Tess used to be in an unhealthy relationship with this guy named Jeremy in high school. She’s still haunted by some memories of her abusive relationship, but she’s vowed to not let anyone treat her like that again. So, when Tess notices her roommate Debra’s unhealthy relationship with the controlling Erik, she debates saying something. What I love about Tess is that instead of judging Debra, she feels empathy for her. That really endeared Tess to me. But also, her ability to consistently call Jase out when he acts like a dick. I love that about her. OH and her passion for dance. And her relationship with her brother Cam. Tess is just a great main character is what you need to know.

Okay, so onto the next part, THE LOVE INTEREST. So, Jase. He’s totally a country boy. He’s into horses and fishing. His parents own a farm and are actually really fantastic because we get to meet them. He cares deeply about his little brother Jack. Jase is actually a really good guy and a NICE guy. Which yay, I am such a fan of that. Anyways, he is totally trying to resist Tess because she is Cam’s little sister, but he can’t. And they have this total undeniable chemistry. So, what does he do? He encourages it by bringing her different sorts of cupcakes each day. The two get closer and closer. Jase begins to pull away. At first, he does come off as being kind of a jerk when he does this BUT YOU GUYS he has his reasons. And ugh, it’s just so dramatic and engrossing and I loved every little bit of the drama in this book.

So if you have ever read a book by J. Lynn aka Jennifer Armentrout before you know that she can write her way around a steamy scene. Oh my goodness. There’s enough kiss scenes in this book to keep me super interested. Not to mention the GROWN UP SCENES, there’s a good dirt road scene, trust. I mean, okay you might blush reading this book if you only ever read books that are “clean” however, if you read a lot of new adult, I think that you’ll know what to expect from Be With Me and will really enjoy the more adult bits. I really enjoyed reading this book and definitely recommend it if you need a distraction from life and a happy, romantic ending for characters that you actually want to root for.

  1. I totally know that mood you described at the beginning!! I find when I am particularly stressed I gravitate to romances or books like be with me because they are such a perfect distraction from life. Anyway, i’m totally with you — I loved Tess and how strong she was. And I’m a big fan of JLA too so I love her swoony scenes. 🙂 Now you need to read stay with me! 🙂

  2. Those books that get you through a stressful time are priceless, even if they are not perfection! I hope things are okay for you now, April.

I liked this one, but it isn’t a favorite. I liked Wait for You and J. Lynn’s newest Stay with Me more than this one, though. That bit about why Jase is keeping his distance – that felt kind of weird to me.

I’m glad you liked this. Are you going to read Stay with Me?

  3. I finally just read this and you’re right, Tess is amazing. I loved it and dived right into the next one
