Stacking The Shelves (50)

It has been forever and a day since I have made a vlog! Seriously, I like making them but then I get all nervous because I just use my built in iMac camera and I don’t use any fancy editor just iMovie and like I get all concerned about my makeup and my hair and my lighting. Really, I just never make vlogs because I also get scared people will be mean to me or like super rude and like I do have kind of thin skin about certain things, so yeah. On the upside, this is my 50th Stacking The Shelves post! How cool is that! Okay and so, onto the books and the video:

For Review:

Faking Normal by Courtney C. Stevens (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I’ve read and reviewed this one already. I didn’t love it, but I can totally sense a giveaway in the near future.
End Times by Anna Schumaker (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I hope there are cults in this one. I am crossing my fingers over this.
Boys Of Blur by ND Wilson (Accepted Review Copy) – I am currently reading this and it’s like magical realism and well-written.
A Death-Struck Year by Makiia Lucier (Amazon Vine) – SPANISH INFLUENZA! Can you tell I am pumped?
I Shall Be Near To You by Erin Lindsay McCabe (Amazon Vine) – I nabbed this because of a review on Books With Cass.
The Last Wild by Piers Torday (Amazon Vine) – Grabbed for the cover. And the Roald Dahl comparison.

Gifted:

Starling by Fiona Paul – from Steph at Cuddlebuggery

THANKS YOU ARE THE GREATEST EVER.

Not adding ebooks because I am feeling super lazy.

However, I did purchase an ebook – the Carly Phillips Hot Zone bundle, it’s like $7 now but when I bought it, it was only 99 cents, fyi in my head I said that like they rap it in Thrift Shop.

  1. I really want to read End Times. I have been trying so hard to get on Penguin’s mailing list and I have taken up the cause again this past week. I WILL break them down. There are bloggers that have been blogging less than a year that are on the list (which is fine, I swear. I just want to get on it too!). Why can I not get on it? So when the next blogger request form goes up, I will be bugging the shit out of them. Hahaha.

I will be watching for your review of The Last Wild. I LIKE Roald Dahl! 😀

I am the same with adult books. I am trying to read more of them this year as well. They seem to be impressing me lately more than YA books. So, I’m working on it.

  2. I like your vlogs and hearing about the books you are excited about! I have such social anxiety I don’t think I’d be able to ever vlog so I’m impressed that you seem so comfortable with it.

I know what you mean about Faking Normal. I just finished it this weekend and it wasn’t my favorite either, though parts of it rang true.

Yay for bloggers’ generosity! Starling looks like a gorgeous book. I need to catch up on that series sometime. This is already book three, right?

All your Vine books look so intriguing. I like to mix adult reads in with the YA- it’s so easy to get burned out otherwise. Looking forward to hear what you think!

  3. YAY! I’m happy to see a vlog from you again, and I think it’s awesome to watch you talk about books 🙂 I definitely want to read A Death-Struck Year (which sounds really good) and I Shall Be Near To You!

  4. Oh, I’ve missed your vlogs April, please continue 🙂 I won Starling through Goodreads so I ordered Venom and will have to get the second book too. I hope it’s a series I’ll love.

  5. I understand being hesitant about doing vlogs…I’m the same way. I did a few a couple of years ago but I’m super self conscious around cameras so I just stopped because it felt so awkward and weird. Your vlogs are great though so I hope you feel comfortable enough to continue!
You have a great stack of books this week. I really loved Faking Normal but it’s definitely not for everyone. End Times looks really good, I’m not big on cults because the put me in a bad mood so I’ve only read one cult book (Gated by Amy Christine Parker) and I was surprised how much I liked it.

  6. Seriously, April, who doesn’t love Roald Dahl? He is the best. And also I really want to check out The Last Wild now. I actually think that the earlier Harry Potter books, especially 1 and 2, remind me of Roald Dahl.

  7. Awesome Haul! Im looking forward to End Times it looks really great! Your vlog was excellent 🙂

would love it if you would check out my STS as well
