I feel like every time I get around to talking about my book haul I am on some sort of vacation. Today is no exception. I’ve been on vacation all last week which has been alright, except for the part where I need to pay over two thousand dollars to fix my car so I am borrowing my mom’s car in the meantime until I can save $2,000. Yet, because I work with a vulnerable population, I know that my problem is not that huge — there are people out there who it would take more than a month to save the money and people who don’t have the resource of family to borrow cars from. So, yes, gratitude that even though my current situation sucks, it could be so much worse than what it is. On the upside, it’s been since December 1 when I last did a Stacking The Shelves and I have lots and lots and lots of books to talk to you all about today! Whoooo hooo!
For Review:
Jet by Jay Crownover (Unsolicited) – I guess this is part of the Marked Men series, lol the guy has spikes on his shirt! BUT I will read the hell out of this at some point I am sure.
Rome by Jay Crownover (Unsolicited) – This is a finished copy and I like the cover way better than Jet. I will also read the hell out of this.
The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski (Can’t Remember If I Requested This) – Check that badass box out. The dagger is someplace, I think Tony took it away because I got a little bit overzealous with it.
The Secret Sisterhood Of Heartbreakers by Lynn Weingarten (Unsolicited) – Looking forward to finally reading this book and I quite like the cover change too! FYI if you click the link it will take you to Amazon where this book is currently $1.99.
The Book Of Love by Lynn Weingarten (Unsolicited) – Check it out, the sequel, also interested in this.
Panic by Lauren Oliver (Unsolicited) – I am reading this right now and going to finish it as soon as I am done typing up this post. Let’s just say I am glad my sister was insistent on borrowing my copy because IT IS SOOOOO GOOD. I recommend it if you’ve got it in your possession. If not, preorder it.
Uninvited by Sophie Jordan (Unsolicited) – Second copy! Whoop whoop! I need to read this ASAP. Well, first I need to read HIDDEN then this.
Defy by Sara B. Larson (Unsolicited) – You guys this finished copy is GORGEOUS. I can’t stop looking at it. I actually just finished reading this the other day. I didn’t love it, but maybe you will.
Manor Of Secrets by Katherine Longshore x2 (Unsolicited and one because I am on blog tour) – OBVIOUSLY I AM PUMPED AS HELL. Look at the cover it’s like Lady Mary Crowley what up. Also, expect a giveaway when the blog tour post happens. SO EXCITED!!!!
Salvage by Alexandra Duncan (Unsolicited) – This cover is really cool, it’s a debut novel and it just sounds awesome you guys.
House Of Ivy And Sorrow by Natalie Whipple (Unsolicited) – I liked the audiobook of Transparent, so I think I will like this! Also dat cover.
Fire And Flood by Victoria Scott (Unsolicited) – I am actually really excited about this! Also, I like books about competitions. A LOT.
Frozen by Erin Bowman (Unsolicited) I still need to read Taken. Soon.
Revolution 19 by Gregg Rosenblum (Unsolicited) – I read this. Meh.
Fugitive X by Gregg Rosenblum (Unsolicited) – Not really my thing. Sorry.
Four Friends by Robyn Carr (Unsolicited) – I just can’t get into Robyn Carr’s books. I’ll probably give this away or donate it.
The Forbidden Library by Django Wexler (Unsolicited) – Dude this book looks awesome. I’ll be reading it soon.
Be With Me by J. Lynn (Unsolicited) – So, I wasn’t in LOVE with Wait For You, but I didn’t hate it, so I will give this book a shot.
No One Else Can Have You by Kathleen Hale (Unsolicited) – This might be one of my next reads, two of my friends love it and that matters. Also, yay finished copy!
So, this package of Walking With Dinosaurs books came in my mail. I likely won’t review them, but will do a little round up post or something about each book so I can feel good about donating them to the DV shelter — I bet the kids in there would love to have these books.
And yo, I am not even touching Netgalley/Edelweiss/a few digital audiobook review copies because typing all this up is exhausting.
Gifted:
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott – From my sister and our newest co-blogger, Cassie! I love this edition and ahhh this book too! Also, if you click the link it takes you back to a review from when I read this in 2010.
Where Dogs Dream by Kit Whitfield – From a coworker for being so helpful to her. Yay dogs! Obviously this coworker knows me well.
Gloom and Cards Against Humanity – YAYYYYY games! From “Santa”

Okay so No One Else Can Have You was baaaaad. I mean I really disliked it big time. Hope you end up liking it though! Uninvited was awesome. I really enjoyed it. Like a LOT.I do have an e-ARC of Panic that I need to start soonish. Fire & Flood was FANTASTIC!!!!
Happy reading!
Hah, I have seen so many mixed reviews for No One Else Can Have You, but I am keeping my expectations low and my mind open.
Glad Uninvited is good!
OMG YES START PANIC!!
Yay I haven’t heard much about Fire & Flood so it warms my heart to hear it’s fantastic!
Lots of goodies! I’m excited for Fire & Flood and Salvage. 🙂
Here’s Mine @ Pinkindle
That is a seriously awesome stack!!! So many of those are on my tbr and it’s awesome that you got so many physical ARCs. I really don’t get many of those yet. I do get a lot of eARCs, so I need to get those all read. I hope you love all your awesome books!!! Thanks for stopping by my STS!
No One Else Can Have You wasn’t bad. I mean, it just requires a still suspension of disbelief. It brings the funny though. I think you’d like it. And I’m reading Defy and I don’t feel like finishing it because guh. But I will. Have fun with the reading.
Cards Against Humanity . . . oh, that is such an awesome game. It’s so fun! You got some awesome ARCs recently. Uninvited is pretty good, and so is Defy (I warn you, though, most people seem to not like it very much). Enjoy your books and have a happy new year!
Kaitlin @ Reading is My Treasure
I need to tell my friend about the Walking with Dinosaurs books. Her daughter is obsessed with dinosaurs and I know that she will just love them.
I bought the first book of the Marked Men series and will start it soon. I agree with you, I like the cover of Rome better too.
Enjoy your books!
Everyone has really fantastic hauls this week!!
I’ve been seeing a lot of The Winner’s Curse and it’s making me jealous because a) that’s an awesome way to package an ARC and b) I haven’t heard one bad thing about it and I want to read it.
Panic I was unsure about reading, but maybe you have persuaded me to at least add it to the more-than-likely-to-read list. Defy I got approved for on Netgalley but haven’t read yet (need to get on that…) and I haven’t heard of Manor of Secrets before (and you’re right, she does look like Lady Mary a little)
One day I hope I get to play Cards Against Humanity. It seems like a hilarious game. And I am a pretty horrible person at parties so it would be fun.
I hope you can get your car fixed soon! And have a good week reading 🙂
Very nice! Gorgeous copy of Little Women. That boxed version of The Winner’s Curse is just phenomenal. A REAL dagger!?
Cards Against Humanity! My husband and I kind of gifted each other that this Christmas. Now we have to talk some friends into playing it.
WOW, that’s a really nice haul, April. Some of the covers are absolutely beautiful. I have Defy as well, and I hope I’ll enjoy it even if you didn’t.
Hopefully, you’ll be able to save up enough money to get your car fixed quickly. I think our problems are real and annoying, even if other people have different problems to deal with.
Happy reading 🙂
Oh wow, such a cool haul. I’d love to get Panic by Lauren Oliver. Hope you enjoy everything 🙂
Happy New Year!
My Book Haul
I am so sorry that happened to your car, April, but I think it’s really awesome that you are still able to put things in perspective even though something shitty happened. It speaks volumes about the content of your character and I am proud to call you a friend.
Tony took away your dagger? That is something Dan would totally do. LOL.
I DO have Panic in my posession. Looking forward to reading that one. I love how you stuck the two hair books together. I’m guessing that was deliberate.
I freaking LOVE the cover of The Forbidden Library. You will have to tell me how that i. I really want to read it!
Fantastic haul! 😀 Hope your Christmas was awesome too!
I got awesome WINNER’S CURSE box too… and promptly broke it. Sigh. I’m, apparently, not smart enough for cool packaging and couldn’t figure out that the sword was supposed to slide out. Still, it was pretty awesome.
Also, read UNINVITED immediately! It is so, so good! I liked Jordan’s FIRELIGHT books, but this one is even better!
Happy reading, April! 🙂
Woahhh, all the lovelies! I can’t wait for the point in time when publishers know me and my blogs and my reviews well enough to just SEND things my way. Like The Winner’s Curse in a pretty box with a dagger! LOVE. Let’s see… I have Fire & Flood, Defy, and No One Else Can Have You. I have eARCs of some of those – but oooo, an ARC of Salvage. I’m really excited to read that one. It’s gigantic!
Thanks for visiting my blog!
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Nice selection! I’m going to add some of these to my ‘to read’ shelf on GoodReads. Thanks for the recommendations. 🙂
Amazing haul! You have so many great looking books here, I am especially jealous of the Winner’s Curse! I have quite a few of these myself but some are ones that I still really want to read! I hope you enjoy all your books 🙂 My STS.
Fire & Flood looks really good! I signed up for the blog tour or something of that nature, and I’m hoping I get picked 🙂 Enjoy!
