Kiersten White has got the magic in her. From the opening page to the hilariously worded acknowledgments, White has recaptured the joy brought by Paranormalcy in Supernaturally.
Evie is no longer working for IPCA, instead she is living life as a human in Lend’s hometown. To be honest, I pretty much forgot everything from Paranormalcy, but Supernaturally quickly brings us up to speed. However, Evie is not completely done with IPCA and begins working on a contractual basis much to Lend’s chagrin. And of course with Evie’s new secret second job comes more zany adventures and new characters.
Such as Jack! He’s pretty much this charismatic, smooth talking beatuche (© Carla), but there’s zero romantic interest so no love square here. ALSO there is more of Reth, who to be honest is kind of blah in comparison to Lend! Who is in college (YAY COLLEGE)! And speaking of college, Evie does normal teenager things like stress out over college applications. And yes, she does still retain her locker fixation.
While reading Supernaturally, I couldn’t help thinking that Evie is totes my wardrobe twin. For instance, there’s a section where she is lamenting the loss of some red slingbacks, and I was thinking ‘GIRL I FEEL YOU ON THAT’. Seriously, I’d like to raid her closet, and I bet she’d be into mine too. I do have A LOT of pink clothing after all.
Kiersten White’s writing style is perfect for reluctant readers. There is sass, and genuine humor. The snark is fun. Yet, there is also heart there as well. Supernaturally isn’t a barrel of laughs, we get genuine emotion on behalf of the characters as well. Especially as Evie battles her inner-demons so to speak and learns that secrets have no place in a romantic relationship. This is dubs true when you want to build trust. Also, I had pretty much the biggest smile on my face at the end. All joking aside, I think that Supernaturally is THE perfect beach read. It’s fun. It’s light. There is romance and kissing. And more paranormals than you can shake a stick at. If you’ve read Paranormalcy, do yourself a favor and pre-order Supernaturally! And then you can be like me and have your hooks on tenters for book three! (FYI my hooks are on tenters for PLENTY of books, this not least among them). Disclosure: Received For Review.

Fantastic review 😀
Love this review! I liked Paranormalcy and now I am more excited about Supernaturally. It is always nice to hear that a sequel lives up to the first book. I think the humor is what really made me enjoy Paranormalcy (as well as all those interesting paranormals and Evie as a character).
Ooh, have this one pre-ordered! I love that Evie’s still enthusiastic about lockers and is looking for colleges. Great that there’s normality along with her paranormality. Thanks for an awesome review!
Happy reading,

I’ve pre-ordered this one, too, thanks to The Awesomeness that is Paranormalcy 🙂 … and I’m so freaking happy to hear that there ISN’T a love square with this Jack dude … I HEART YOU, KIERSTEN WHITE!! 😀
P.S. Reth is totally blah. I could so do without him.
