Tia and Will’s lives get flipped upside down when they’re voted Yearbook’s Biggest Flirts in this sassy novel from the author of Endless Summer and The One That I Want.
Tia just wants to have fun. She’s worked hard to earn her reputation as the life of the party, and she’s ready for a carefree senior year of hanging out with friends and hooking up with cute boys. And her first order of business? New guy Will. She can’t get enough of his Midwestern accent and laidback swagger.
As the sparks start to fly, Will wants to get serious. Tia’s seen how caring too much has left her sisters heartbroken, and she isn’t interested in commitment. But pushing Will away drives him into the arms of another girl. Tia tells herself it’s no big deal…until the yearbook elections are announced. Getting voted Biggest Flirts with Will is, well, awkward. They may just be friends, but their chemistry is beginning to jeopardize Will’s new relationship—and causing Tia to reconsider her true feelings. What started as a lighthearted fling is about to get very complicated…

Biggest Flirts by Jennifer Echols is the first in her Superlatives trilogy. If you have not read this book yet, get on it. It’s one of those books that is perfect for winding down after a stressful day or reading on your lunch break. Biggest Flirts is a romantic comedy of sorts. It’s funny and adorable and of course, you’ll want the two leads to ultimately end up together. Believe you me, this book is exactly what you would expect and I’m glad for it.

Biggest Flirts by Jennifer Echols falls under her romantic comedy books and not her romantic drama books. It’s narrated by this girl named Tia Cruz. When the book opens, Tia is at a party. This hot guy approaches her after being directed by her friends to go see her. Tia assumes her friends sent him over for a hookup. So, she takes him home.

Only, it turns out his name is Will and he actually was coming over to see her because he’s in the drum line of the marching band with her. He’s new at school too. He asks Tia out on a date but she turns him down. Tia doesn’t do boyfriends, alas, she gets super jealous seeing Will with another girl. She and Will are going to have to figure out the chemistry between them when the two are elected Biggest Flirts for Senior Superlatives.

Tia Cruz is half Puerto Rican. I can’t speak at all to her representation and authenticity as I’m white. As a character though, I genuinely rooted for Tia. She’s got some deep seated issues that stem from her mother’s addiction and leaving the family as well as her sisters. You see, her sisters have all left home for boyfriends, with a few of them ending up pregnant.

So, because Tia has seen this she’s determined not to be in relationships, she doesn’t want to upend her life for some boy. Initially, this isn’t a terrible thing. However, we also see how Tia self sabotages other areas of her life. She refuses to take on responsibility because she’s so afraid of failing. While I wanted to be all, get a grip girl, I get how fragile kids can be and well, figuring out how to move past traumatic events is hard.

So, the romance between Tia and Will really falls into what you would expect from a book titled Biggest Flirts. Basically, they don’t date, but they constantly get reprimanded in band practice for flirting. Will is trying to date this other girl, Angelica, but Tia is pretty jealous.

She won’t do anything about it though because of her rule against relationships. Alas, there’s no stopping chemistry and how much the two are drawn to each other. I’ll just say there’s kissing and other bits of action so of course I wanted the two to end up together (and you can probably make an educated guess as to whether this happens or not).

Overall, Biggest Flirts by Jennifer Echols is a breezy quick read. It’s one that I don’t entirely regret putting off for a long time because now the rest of the series is out, therefore I can read it like right this very second. Plus, it is just one of those books that is good to have on hand when you need something laid back between reads and don’t want anything too serious.
