TheMoon

The Moon is card number 18, and represents illusion, confusion and anxiety.

Friends, this is such an accurate card to draw for our portion of the tour.

Here’s what the card means upright according to this website:

Oftentimes, the Moon appears in a reading when you are not sure of your destination, or even of the path you are travelling but you travel nonetheless. You may have lost your way and are now left to walk in the dark, guided only by your inner light and intuition. You need to go on without a clear picture of where you are, where you are going or where you have been

Here’s what it means reversed according to this website:

The Moon reversed indicates that you have recently experienced a time of self-deception, illusion, fears and anxiety but these negative energies are beginning to subside.

Interesting right? So, okay, I have not finished reading Blue Lily, Lily Blue yet due to life circumstances. However, from what I have read so far, the meaning of this card totally applies to the series as a whole.

  • Blue – Guys this is totally her card. She’s got this prophecy about her and her first kiss and death and well, her destination takes these different paths.
  • Gansey – He’s definitely finding different ways to get to Glendower (am I spelling that right? Who knows) and it’s like he is focused on the path to get there, but there’s some speed bumps along the way. This is such a Gansey card.
  • Adam – So, I guess this applies to Adam in that he agreed to pretty much sacrificed himself in The Raven Boys and well, that is bound to cause fears and anxiety.
  • RONAN – MY FAVORITE yo. Okay, so Ronan totally makes me think of The Moon reversed because you know, he travels into dreams and pull things out and sometimes that’s a good thing, sometimes not. And there’s certainly some issues there and oh my goodness he is my favorite.

ABOUT THE RAVEN CYCLE

Mystery, Romance and the supernatural combine in this series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Maggie Stiefvater.

Book 1: The Raven Boys

Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue never sees them–until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks to her. His name is Gansey, a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul whose emotions range from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She doesn’t believe in true love, and never thought this would be a problem. But as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

Book 2: The Dream Thieves

Now that the ley lines around Cabeswater have been woken, nothing for Ronan, Gansey, Blue, and Adam will be the same. Ronan, for one, is falling more and more deeply into his dreams, and his dreams are intruding more and more into waking life. Meanwhile, some very sinister people are looking for some of the same pieces of the Cabeswater puzzle that Gansey is after….

Book 3: Blue Lily, Lily Blue

There is danger in dreaming. But there is even more danger in waking up.

Blue Sargent has found things. For the first time in her life, she has friends she can trust, a group to which she can belong. The Raven Boys have taken her in as one of their own. Their problems have become hers, and her problems have become theirs.

The trick with found things though, is how easily they can be lost.

Comments

  1. I haven’t read the series but I feel like my favorite character will be Gansey (I just love that name!) Thanks for the giveaway! Fingers crossed 🙂

  2. Ronan of course! But… Adam is slowly creeping into my heart and so is Noah and i also admire Blue so technically EVERYONE except Piper & Maura. Those bitches!

  3. I have two favorite Characters… Ronan & Chainsaw.

  4. Christina R. says

I love Blue because she’s brave and such a good friend and she’s so scared of hurting people she loves but she still wants to love Gansey and be her own person with her own powers.

thank you so very much 🙂

Just in case rafflecopter shows my location outside US, I’m doing a semester abroad and would use my regular US mailing address.

  5. Gansey, of course. He’s so quirky and single-minded, but he drives the whole story.

  6. Blue is my favorite, but every character in Maggie Stiefvater’s books is fantastic.

  7. I love them all, but Ronan is my favorite. I think. The dream thief thing is so cool, and he’s got such a bad attitude and can be so surly but there’s just something there.

  8. Gansey is my favorite character 🙂 I just love how focused he is on his quest, but also what a great friend he is. I cannot wait to get my hands on Blue Lily, Lily Blue, and i’d like to thank you for being part of this awesome giveaway!!

  9. I really like blue. It’s so rare an author can create such a unique character-and one that tries to be unique at that-without it seeming forced or cliche. But blue just is who she is and it’s great.

  10. It is so hard to pick a favorite! I absolutely love Blue and Gansey. But Ronan too! and Adam and Noah and Maura and the Grey Man and… Gosh I could go on! I love almost all of them <3

  11. Gansey! Blue is a close second…

  12. Blue.

  13. Ronan and Noah! They need hugs!

  14. Susan Crispell says

I’m loving this tour. My favorite character is Ronan. He gets better with every book. <3

  15. My I have a few favorite characters, Persephone, Noah, and Ronan

  16. Calla!

  17. They’re all amazing, but I think my favorite would be between Gansey and Ronan. Even after three years, I still can’t decide.

  18. I love them all but Gansey has a soft spot in my heart!

  19. Gansey! His drive to find Glendower and his wonderful journal and the fact that he chews on mint leaves. I love that he’s flawed but he tries so hard to help everyone around him.

  20. Ronan is my favorite, and Noah too!

  21. Ronan is my favorite for sure!

  22. Ronan is my favorite – love how he’s able to pull things from his dreams.

  23. Favorites? I’m supposed to have a favorite? Well, I think it would be Ronan. He has such sharp edges and such a deep well of anger, that it’s hard not to fall in love with him!

  24. Favorite character = always and forever Ronan Lynch. <333333333

  25. RONAN RONAN RONAN

    I have strong Ronan feels.

  26. Everyone loves Ronan, and based on my typical love of guys my favorite should be Ronan. But in this series Gansey has completely stolen my heart. And I adore him so, so much.

  27. I like Noah and Ronen. 😀 oh and Persephone!

  28. My feature co-host has convinced me that I need these books in my life, but I have not had the chance to read any yet. I love female MCs, so I think Lily will most likely be my favorite, but we will see. Winning these books would be perfect. I would be giving the tarot cards to my co-host because she is so supportive! Thank-you for this stellar giveaway contest. 🙂

  29. RONAN!

  30. I love Blue, but Gansey is my favorite.

  31. This is so so so hard. I’ll give you two favorites: Ronan and Adam. I absolutely love them. I just want to hug them both.

  32. Mariel Tishma says

    Ronan, Ronan, Ronan forever. <3

  33. I love both Gansey and Ronan!

  34. Um… Is all of them an option? I am making it one. This includes ALL THE CHARACTERS including non-humans like Chainsaw, the pig, and the Dog.
Oh wait I do not like Whelk. And I am not sure about Neeve yet; I do not even know if she will be a major player in the last book. And I know Piper and Greenmantle are terrible people (Geenmantle is a coward and Piper is a manipulative lunatic) but I do like them.

  35. Ronan & Adam. You cannot and should not have one without the other, IMO.

  36. Just one character? Seriously? I love the entire core group. Um… probably Ronan & Gansey… for VERY different reasons. 🙂

  37. Clarisa Ramirez says

My favorite character has to be Ronan and Noah!

  38. Caitlin Fellows says

    RONAN LYNCH <3 <3 <3

  39. I love them all with all of my heart, but if I had to pick one, I would have to say Ronan. My son and precious child.

  40. Only one character? I feel like the whole group is what makes each character. I would have to say Blue is my favorite character. Not really because she’s a girl, but because she’s really one of the guys. And mostly because she doesn’t take crap from Ronan.

  41. Ronan is definitely my favorite I think! Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  42. Ronan is my absolute favourite character. I think I love him the most because he’s a gay Catholic teen, and I really identify with that. I’ve never been able to find another queer Catholic character in YA, and it makes him all the more interesting to me because I can feel of some of the things he must be struggling with, as a gay teen and a practicing Catholic. Ronan Lynch is just so important to me.

  43. Noah is my favorite character!

  44. Janellie Berlanga says

My favorite character is Gansey, he’s such a gentleman and so eloquent, I love it! Plus he smells like mint and that’s awesome

  45. Jacklin Updegraft says

My favorite character is Blue and Gansey! They are both so amazing and I love them so much!

  46. RONAN!

Okay, I love a lot of people. I love Blue and Gansey. I love Calla. I love the Gray Man. I LOVE JESSE DITLEY! But, yeah, Ronan has my heart.

  47. Adam is definitely my favorite. I have a soft spot for him, and it hurts so much but I still love him…

  48. The best character without a doubt is the two-beaked albino raven monster duh

  49. Ronan, but Adam is also growing on me.

  50. Gansey is my favorite character, with Blue as a close second.

  51. Gansey in all his boat shoes glory.

  52. Well, I’ve only read book 1 so far so my opinion might change, but I really liked Blue.

Thanks for hosting this giveaway. I’ve loved following along on this blog tour. 🙂

  53. Gansey! Can’t get enough of him!

  54. Ganseyyyyyy! :D<3

  55. Ronan and Noah.

  56. Might seem like a cop-out, but I don’t necessarily like just one character, but more of the group as a whole. The interweaving friendships and interactions really make the novel for me.

  57. Ronanronanronanronanronan.

  58. Ronan is definitely my favorite

  59. Well I love them all to pieces but my faves are Ronan and Gansey!

  60. Favorite character? Blue. Easy. Cliche, but easy.

  61. I’ve only read the first book in the series so far (though I can’t wait to read the rest!), but it’s still really hard to pick a favorite character. It would definitely be between Blue and Ronan!

  62. I love Gansey! Gansey is amazing, smart, complicated and swoonworthy

  63. thanks for the fun spotlight and giveaway! I haven’t read this series yet but I really, really want 😉 Thanks for sharing!

  64. My favorite character is Ronan

  65. Ronan is my favorite. I love how he looks out for his friends and is also tough and complicated and just so cool. 😀

  66. I love this series so very much. I’m not exactly sure I can pick a favorite character, but a bit of arm twisting has me saying Ronan. Or Gansey. Yep, Ronan or Gansey.

  67. I love Calla!

  68. All of them, because I can’t just choose one.

  69. Honestly for me it’s a tie for favorite characters between Calla and Noah. Calla because I wish I had a role model like her, and in some ways we’re similar, but she’s far stronger than I, and I’d like to attain that level of inner strength and peace someday. Noah because we know so little about him (I feel like he gets sidelined HELLA hard), but he’s so genuine and caring and so very real. He looks out for his boys. And I have many, many feelings about his friendship with Blue.

  70. Ronan! <3

  71. Bagginsindeed says

Adam is my favorite. There are too few representations of economic struggle in YA literature.

  72. Ronan because it sounds like ronin.

  73. thanks for the giveaway! ive been following this series and i love it a lot; my favorite would have to be blue

  74. Adriana Cloud (@adicloud) says

Ronan is my favorite. He’s so cranky and adorable! 🙂 I love him!

  75. Ronan is probably my favorite!

  76. Gansey!!

  77. I don’t know, I need to read the series and find out. And WOW that is a beautiful card!

  78. none of them because never read this author

  79. I’m a Gansey girl myself. <3

  80. Ronan

  81. Ronan or Gansey… or maybe the Gray Man!

  82. BLUE – being a girl and a romantic!

  83. I think it applies to all of the characters. They’ve come out of tense situations and it’s subsiding a little bit within their group. There are still external factors, but I think it ultimately applies to their group.
