The Story Guy | Mary Ann Rivers | Novella Review

Sometimes when your own personal holy trifecta of book reviewers with good taste reads something and then proclaims it’s praises, you say to yourself, why YES I will read this, but then either buy it and it just sits in your house or on your kindle, or just add it to your goodreads list with a vague note. This happens to me constantly, I say WOW I AM DYING TO READ THAT but in reality, I never read it. EXCEPT. Except for that one time when Chachic and Angie were like THE STORY GUY is so great, and I immediately purchased it and read it like 2 days after purchasing. Friends, those two were totally on to something with their praises and recommendations of The Story Guy by Mary Ann Rivers.

The Story Guy by Mary Ann Rivers | Good Books And Good Wine

Carrie West, a teen services librarian, looks at the personal’s section on this metro website that is similar to Craigslist every single day. She’s got a pretty good life – she is happy with her job, she has great friends. Yet, something feels off, as though something is missing. When she comes across a personal that requests meetings for no-strings attached kissing, Carrie absolutely cannot resist responding. And so, she begins to meet Brian Newburgh, a super hot dude on Wednesdays for some make out action. Of course, you guys he has a secret. And we all know that Carrie is going to want more than kissing. Will Brian end up being her Story Guy? We all know that answer but it’s the journey that matters.

You guys, The Story Guy has some pretty steamy scenes within it’s 131 pages. Let me tell you, this book is romantic and cute and sad and happy. It gave me ALL OF THE FEELS. It will give you all of the emotions if you are like me. So, if you’re partial to self-sacrificing heroes, love librarians who aren’t shrinking violets or virgins, and like books with LOTS of kissing, you’ll be into this romance. This is the first bit of writing I have read by Mary Ann Rivers, but it’s managed to convince me that Rivers knows what she is doing when it comes to weaving tension with story with romantic chemistry. I really enjoyed Brian and Carrie as a couple. A great quick read that will cost less than your pumpkin spice latte, warm up your evening with The Story Guy by Mary Ann Rivers.

  1. Yay! I am so happy you gave this a try and that you loved it. Such a lovely romance. So much emotion was packed in one little novella. I can’t wait to see what Mary Ann Rivers writes next.

  2. I can never resist a book with a librarian main character! Especially when she/he isn’t the stereotypical librarian. And yay for kissing!!!

  3. I thought her writing was just lovely. And the kissing is rather hard to resist.

  4. All The Feels, sounds like really good to me!
😀 thanks for reviewing this, I was a bit on the fence about it.
