In My Mailbox (72)

Y’all, this week’s In My Mailbox as hosted by the Story Siren is super chill compared to last week and I am thrilled about that. Although, I did get what seems to be a billion audiobooks, but hey, at least my ears won’t be bored or empty. Right-o.

In My Mailbox 72

Library:

On The Wings Of Heroes by Richard Peck read by Lincoln Hoppe Audiobook – I borrowed this book because I really like Lincoln Hoppe as a narrator, he narrated Okay For Now by Gary Schmidt, so i was curious about this book when I saw it in the Audible $5 sale. As it’s only 3 hours and 14 minutes long, I went the cheap way and borrowed it from the library (hey gotta get those circulation rates up).

Misty Of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry read by Edward Herrmann Audiobook – Another book that was part of the Audible $5 sale, but is only 2 hours long. I’ve never ever read this and it seems like every girl has EXCEPT for me. Fail right?

Warped by Maurissa Guibord – So Jen told me this was a total ME book, so of course I put it on hold as soon as possible and am totally pumped about reading this book. Dude, there are unicorns.

Purchased:

Since I keep talking about that $5 Audible Sale, I should let you know that I actually DID buy some books from it, instead of raiding my library completely and totally.

American Uprising by David Rasmussen (Audible Sale) – This book is about the largest slave revolt to take place in America, and since I am a dork for history I had to buy it and the price was right.

The Statues That Walked by Carl Lip and Terry Hunt (Audible Sale) – Nonfiction about the Easter Island statues. Heck yes this is an immediate WANT and purchase.

Sunrise Over Fallujah by Walter Dean Myers (Audible Sale) – I’ve read a lot of Myers’s work, so I thought I would listen to this one as well.

The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi (Audible Sale) – BOOM at $5 and a book that is on my Fill In The Gaps list, I am so totally sold.

The View From Saturday by EL Konigsburg (Audible Sale) – Jenna Lamia is one of the narrators and it won an award. Of course I needed to get it.

Easy by Tammara Webber – Angie reviewed this book and ALSO it’s a New Adult book and the price was right for me, so yes, I immediately purchased after reading Angie’s review.

For Review:

A Confusion Of Princes by Garth Nix (Amazon Vine) – I’ve read and reviewed and enjoyed Garth Nix’s books and so because I like the cover and the concept I had to have this from Vine.

Something Strange And Deadly by Susan Dennard (Amazon Vine) – Y’all ZOMBIES and debut author. OBVIOUSLY.

Dearly Beloved by Lia Habel (Netgalley) – Soooo, over last week I had my head buried in Dearly Departed and as soon as I finished, I knew I had to hop on Netgalley and request the sequel. I can’t wait to see what happens with Nora, Bram and Pam!

Since You Left Me by Allen Zadoff (Netgalley) – Y’all, I love Zadoff’s writing style, so I legit cannot wait to read this book.

  1. So I’m interested in seeing your reaction to Something Strange and Deadly. That book wasn’t what I was expecting (in a good way). And Warped IS awesome. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

  2. I’ve HEARD of Garth Nix, but I still haven’t read any of his books. I have to admit that that cover is kick ass. I’m really digging the colors and shizz. AND SOMETHING STRANGE AND DEADLY. I can’t tell you how excited I am that you’ll be reading this one! I actually liked this one MORE than Dearly, Departed, which is CRAY because I enjoyed DD so much. That doesn’t mean I’m any less excited for Dearly, Beloved! So happy you’re a fan, bro 😀

  3. I feel like I need to go to the library! Even tho I don’t have time to read lol Enjoy your goodies! I cant wait to read Something Strange
    🙂

  4. Oh, I definitely want to give Easy a read, heard it’s awesome. Can’t wait to read Something Strange too! Great haul!

  5. “New Adult”, huh? This is the first I’ve heard of the term. I love that people are finally writing stories about the uni years – honestly, it’s ripe for good fiction!! – but I guess I would still use the YA or adult fiction labels depending on the maturity of the story etc. How official is the “new adult” thing? I’m curious – I get quite nerdy about labels and tags and categories!!

  6. enjoy all

  7. Nice haul, hun! I’ve heard really good things about Easy, can’t wait to read it and also I’m hearing good things about Something Strange and Deadly – looking forward to your review!

  8. Awesome books! I’m waiting for Dearly, Departed from the library and can’t wait to read it AND I got Dearly, Beloved from NetGalley — should be an awesome weekend once the first one gets in!

Something Strange and Deadly looks pretty great! I love the cover.

And yay for audiobooks! I didn’t pick up anything at the sale, but still have a TON to listen to before I can think of getting anything else.

Happy reading — and listening! 🙂

  9. I didn’t see Misty on the $5 sale!! (I just skimmed really quick though…) I should have snagged it… (I cancelled audible for a few months due to my tight budget to save for vacation.)

You got so much amazingly awesome stuff this week…

Come see the books I got this week in my Week in Review!

  10. I loved Allen Zadoff’s last book! His style is so easy to get into. I’ve been wanting to read Warped for a long time—and so excited for Something Strange and Deadly! I’ve heard it’s awesome.

    Enjoy!

    Here’s my goodies!

  11. I can’t wait to see what you think of Something Strange and Deadly!

  12. I love love love the Library 🙂 Great finds!
I also snagged Dearly Beloved from NetGalley – going to start that one today.

    Happy Reading!

  14. Audiobooks! I am about 70% done with my first audiobook (besides Harry Potter) and I am absolutely loving it! I certainly know where to go when I need recs in the future 🙂 You also got some amazing review books – enjoy them ALL!

  15. I really liked the book The View from Saturday. Have you ever read Silent to the Bone by that same author? I read it a few years ago and absolutely loved it!

  16. Okay I hadn’t even heard of Warped until like a week ago, and this is the 3rd place I’ve seen it since! Also I hope you like True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, that’s one I need to reread!

  17. Misty of Chincoteague? Dude, memories…
    Enjoy that haul. =D

  18. I seriously need to convert to audiobooks. I have some but the only ones I’ve really enjoyed out of the few I have are the TMI and ID series. I need to branch out more and get some MG ones. Enjoy your goodies this!

  19. I just finished SOMETHING STRANGE AND DEADLY this morning and it was amazeballs. I loved the combo of zombies and historical times. You will love it (I hope)!

    Happy reading, April 🙂

  21. Usually, I look at your haul posts and am crazy jealous. This week I’m actually more focused on your library haul. Specifically, I cannot wait to find out if Warped is awesome as it looks/sounds. Review it for me!

  22. I need to read WARPED–it sounds right up my alley. Nice IMM!

  23. Hope you’ll enjoy A Confusion of Princes more than I did. Personally, I found it kind of confusing (haha), so don’t be afraid to slow down while reading it.
