Yo, so it’s that time where I talk to y’all about the books that came in my mail and my kindle and also the library! This is a meme hosted by The Story Siren. I very much enjoy participating!
Library:
The Boneshaker by Kate Milford – So I borrowed this one because The Book Smugglers reviewed it and they made it sound like a BOOK I MUST READ THIS INSTANT.
Purchased:
At The Bride Hunt Ball by Olivia Parker – I totally bought this for my Kindle because it is only $1.99 and I have been wanting it for a very long time but have held off. I am beyond excited to start reading this book!
Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson audiobook – I’ve already listened to this audiobook and I legitimately can’t wait for my review to go live. I LOVED IT.
The Murder Of The Century: The Gilded Age Crime That Scandalized A City And Sparked The Tabloid Wars by Paul Collins audiobook – Frankly, the narrator sample grabbed me and honestly, this is freaky but I like listening to books about true crime and taking breaks from YA.
For Review:
Dark Lord by Jamie Thompson (Netgalley) – An evil dude discovering he may have a good side? Oh, girl, of course I requested this on Netgalley.
Butter by Erin Jade Lange (Netgalley) – So this is a dark book about a kid who eats himself to death on a webcam, what a scary, fascinating concept.
Skylark by Megan Spooner (Netgalley) – I watched a Buzz Panel at BEA and Skylark was one of the books buzzed about and Spooner seems to have a sparkling personality, hence why I requested this.
The Curiosities by Brenna Yovanoff, Tessa Gratton and Maggie Stiefvater (Netgalley) – Okay, I like books by ALL of these authors and am interested to see what the Merry Sisters Of Fate have come up with.
Perfect Escape by Jennifer Brown (Netgalley) – Seems like Jennifer Brown writes some hard hitting contemporary YA, which I am always down for.
Dualed by Elise Chapman (Netgalley) – AHHHH! YES! The blurb says it is a cross between the Hunger Games and Matched, which okay if I never hear another Hunger Games comparison again I will be thrilled, but yes, I wanted to check this one out anyways.
The Blood Keeper by Tessa Gratton (Netgalley) – FINALLY! The sequel to Blood Magic which was really good. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
A Need So Beautiful by Suzanne Young (Unsolicited) – I’ve already read and reviewed and really liked this book. You can read my review by clicking here.
Being Friends With Boys by Terra Elan McVoy (Blog Tour) – I am on the tour for this for Lit Logistics. Watch for a contest and guest post on Thursday. I’m about 100 pages into this and am hoping to finish it up today.
My Own Revolution by Carolyn Marsden (Requested Review Copy) – Hello historical fiction about the Communist regime and Czechoslovakia I cannot wait to read the HECK out of you.
Soonchild by Russell Hoban (Requested Review Copy) – This looks to be a tactile read and I was powerless in the face of this PATRICK NESS blurb: “Hoban is the best sort of genius.” Why yes, yes I am DYING to read this very soon. Perhaps next weekend.
Swim The Fly by Don Calame (Requested Review Copy) – A teen comedy about trying to see a naked person, bring on the LOLs y’all.

I’m really glad you liked A Need So Beautiful because I heard some not so great reviews and was anxious that it may not meet my expectations! However, since you liked it and our tastes are quite similar, I can rest assured. As always, happy reading.
Awesome books! I’ve requested Butter and Dualed …. Butter looks extremely interesting and Dualed looks so intense!
And the collection of stories (The Curiosities) intrigues me … I’ve heard awesome things about Maggie Stiefvater, and I love Brenna Yovanoff!
Happy reading!
Oh my goodness yes!! Was Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, specifically the audiobook edition, not the most amazing audiobook? Oh my God. I listened to it at work on my phone and I just about died. There were so many lol moments and my coworkers probably think I need to be committed. It was so worth it though! I can’t wait to read your review!
Swim the Fly has been on my tbr list like FOREVER and then some. Seriously – boys trying to peep a naked lady sounds like high comedy to this kid.
I’m so excited to get started on The Blood Keeper! I LOVED Blood Magic. Tessa’s writing is gorgeous. So glad to hear you loved Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. I love her blog! I need to get the book soon.
Oh I love your new books, I hope you’ll enjoy them all. Happy reading!
Butter sounds absolutely terrifying. I could have gone my entire life without hearing the phrase “a boy eats himself live on webcam” and I really wish I had. D:
A need so beautiful is really good 🙂 I’ve enjoyed this book!! 🙂 🙂 Amazing mailbox April! Enjoy all this awesomeness 🙂 😉
Oooooh I’ve wanted to read Being Friends With Boys ever since my GalleyGrab expired (CRY.) I hope it’s good and I can’t wait to hear what you think of it.
And hellllls yes, A Need So Beautiful. I know you’ve already read it but SO WHAT?!?!?!
What is up with the fact that I haven’t yet read A Need So Beautiful? FAIL. Of epic proportions, bro. I’ve heard so many dazzling things about this book and how emotional it is, shame on me for not making grabby hands for it.
I’d love to request some of those netgalley titles but I’m feel like when I’m bloated at the dinner table when I can’t eat another bite but then I make a TINY exception for a LITTLE bit more. Dualed was my little bit more. But I can’t squeeze all these others! :O
April, GET AT IT. Enjoy these pretties!
I’m dying for an approval letter for Dualed. It looks so good! Every adult is a murderer? Count me in for that shiznat. Happy reading!
Soonchild and My Own Revolution, neither of which I’ve heard of both sound freaking AMAZING!
Awesome haul, dude. You went CRAZY on NetGalley!
Oh, here are my links if you’re interested: This week I had two book haul posts, one for my BEA books and one for my post.
Looks like we have some similarities this week! 🙂 I am most curious about Butter. Doesn’t that sound incredibly horrifying and fascinating? Haha. Skylark is just _waiting_ for me on my Nook, but I have to wait until September to read and post the review. Ugh!
Hope you enjoy ALL your lovelies 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

I’m really looking forward to reading your review of Jenny Lawson’s book. It kind of sounds like it will be added to my TBR based on your little blurb – so I’m excited to hear more of your thoughts on it!
