Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke And The Bookish and created by the brilliant and beautiful Jamie!!
This week’s topic is Top Ten Books On Your Winter TBR. You guys, I hate leaving the house in winter. It’s cold and snowy and people drive like idiots, especially everyone in my town who owns a pick up truck, I mean hello my front wheel drive CAR can’t exactly go 75 miles on an unplowed road without crashing into a tree, so GET OFF MY ASS. Rant aside, I chose to spend my winter time in the house reading. Here’s just a brief selection of the books on my winter TBR!
1. Game Of Thrones by George RR Martin
Winter is coming, betches! Okay, so I cheated on this one because I already started it and got 385 pages in before having to set it on hold for CYBILS. I can’t wait to get back to the Starks and the DIREWOLVES. ILY DIREWOLVES. ILY!
2. Fire by Kristin Cashore
I feel SO un-well-read for not having read Fire yet. I KNOW. Everyone I adore has read it and loved it. And I want to be in the in-crowd! Hello, I wear pink on Wednesdays. So I feel like a loser for not having read this yet.
3. Hallowed by Cynthia Hand
Hallowed is the book that I am THE MOST excited to have in my hot little hands. Hello Tucker is the shizzam. I can’t wait to read more about him and pretend that Christian doesn’t exist.
4. Ten Ways To Be Adored When Landing A Lord by Sarah Maclean
So I loved Nine Rules To Break When Romancing A Rake, and you guys winter is COLD here in NY. I need something to heat up my nights!
5. After The Snow by SD Crockett
A winter-y book for winter! So creative I know. But you guys there is an ice age. AND people living off the mutha lovin land. YES. That is my jam.
6. Frost by Marianna Baer
Frost looks like it has NOTHING to do with winter, but there’s a boarding school and my imagination goes wild over boarding schools.
7. Cinder by Marissa Meyer
Angieville gave this a good review, and you guys she is probably the BEST book blogger I read. Seriously. If you are not reading her blog you are missing out on gold. I need to read Cinder basically because her review is THAT compelling, even if she doesn’t think it is the best book ever.
8. Fire From The Rock by Sharon Draper
I enjoyed Copper Sun by Sharon Draper and wouldn’t mind delving into more of her work! Plus it’s about Little Rock and integration which I always found interesting.
9. Trapped by Michael Northrop
You guys, I met Michael Northrop at a signing and he is DA BOMB. I know,90s lingo, but he really is awesome. And this book is about KIDS TRAPPED IN A SCHOOL BECAUSE OF A BLIZZARD. OMG YES PLEASE. Sigh. So much caps lock.
10. Love And Leftovers by Sarah Tregay
I love
Books that are
in verse.
That’s pretty much my lame attempt at VERSING. Authors do it way better and I cannot RESIST a verse book ever. So, you bet your bottom dollar I will cozy up to this with a mug of hot chocolate and my Snuggie.
So, what’s on your list?

You really should read Fire! Loved that book. 🙂 I’m curious about Cinder too.
If you loved it, that’s pretty much a guarantee I will too. And obvi you are among the bloggers I adore who loved it!!
Aww thanks for that, April! Can’t wait to see what you think of it. 🙂
First off, Fire is absolutely amazing!! I love Kristin Cashore!! Secondly, both Love and Leftovers and Cinder are in my winter TBR piles can’t wait to check both out!
I saw the show of “Game of Thrones”, maybe I’ll check out the book too!
Great list and thanks for stopping by my blog! 🙂
all of those books make me go ahhhh!! GoT is seriously hardcore long but it is SO GOOD. I have trapped and it looks DA BOM DIGGITY you are tres right!
I love Fire! I hope you do to when you finally get to it.
Had to chuckle when I saw 10 Ways to Win a Lord. Sounds like fun.
Here’s my Post
I totally forgot about After the Snow. Definitely the perfect book to read in the dead of winter.
Trapped was really good. It definitely has the whole realistic scary thing going for it.
I too LOVED Fire. Probably even more than Graceling. I really loved Cinder and Hallowed. I can’t wait to see what you think of those.
Sarah MacLean is quickly becoming one of my favorite romance authors. Hope you enjoy Ten Ways to Be Adored When Landing a Lord. It was good, but Eleven Scandals to Start to Win A Duke’s Heart was my absolute favorite. I can’t wait to read McLean’s new book in February.
Trapped was awesome! I reviewed it on my blog if you want to check it out! Fire was amazing too! I can’t decide if I like it or Graceling better. Maybe Bitterblue will trump them both! Great list! Enjoy!
My Top Ten
Fire was actually just okay for me. I preferred Graceling! But it’s still definitely worth reading. I can’t wait for Bitterblue!
And do finish the Love by Number series – it’s so good!
I’ve been wanting to read Trapped as well. Winter seems like it would be a good time for that.
Game of Thrones! I will get to that one soon! Sometime this winter, for sure! And yes, FIRE is so, SO great!! I also really liked Ten Ways, but I think I liked Nine Rules and Eleven Scandals more. ENJOY!!! 😀
CINDER is definitely a must read for me too! I just couldn’t fit it on my list. Loads of good choices here! Hope you can get to them all.
Mad props to you for the Game of Thrones books. I know I couldn’t do it, they are just too huge! I read Fire on audio and it was awesome!
Ohh Hallowed!! I am dying to read this book!! And also I need to start with the Graceling serie soon 🙂
Nice pick of books! 🙂
I am determined, DETERMINED to read Trapped this winter! YOU SHALL NOT GET AWAY FROM ME, WINTRY BOOK.
Also, After the Snow has an awesome cover. Makes me want to snuggle up with a blanket, too…and count my blessings I have a heater and that my family isn’t starving/has been kidnapped.
