Desire knows no reason...
When Lady Delilah Chambers finds herself stranded at a country inn on a rain-swept evening, she’s forced to fend off a group of ruffians with the help of a handsome gentleman. Irresistibly drawn to each other, Leela and the stranger spend one reckless night in each others’ arms—and then go their separate ways. But the very next day Leela receives the shock of her life when she meets the duke who is set on wedding her beloved stepdaughter.
When it finds two destined hearts...
One night isn’t enough with a woman as fierce, fiery, and brilliant as Leela. Elliot Townsend, Duke of Huntington, cannot believe his good fortune when their chance encounter leads to an unforgettable evening of passion. Yet Hunt’s luck runs out when he is introduced to his prospective mother-in-law. Dowagers aren’t supposed to look like this...
Leela and Hunt are determined to keep each other at arm’s length, which should be easy enough for two intelligent adults with reputations to uphold. The problem is all logic is lost when it comes to a passion that refuses to be ignored.

Why Did I Listen To Her Night With The Duke by Diana Quincy?

Diana Quincy’s Her Night With The Duke sounded pretty unique compared to the other historical romances out there. Not that I am dogging on the other historical romances, because I do enjoy them quite a bit. However, the big draw to me for this book is that the heroine was half Arabic. I might just be reading the wrong books, but it seems like the majority of historical romance I come across features a white heroine, with the exception of the books by Beverly Johnson. I really enjoy listening to historical romances, so grabbing the audiobook via Libby was a no-brainer for me. Also, it was a great opportunity to test out the Powerbeats I got for Christmas.

What’s The Story Here?

Lady Delilah “Leela” Chambers ends up at a country inn for the evening when a rain storm occurs and she’s attacked by ruffians. A man helps her fend the group off. As it turns out, Leela and the man have some chemistry and so they give into their urges and spend the night together, hooking up. The next day, they both go on their way. It is then that Leela finds out the man she hooked up with is the Duke of Huntington, Elliot Townsend. Oh and he’s supposed to be marrying Leela’s stepdaughter. Leela and Elliot intend to avoid each other and to not be tempted. Of course, this is a romance novel with the title Her Night With The Duke so you can likely guess what is about to happen.

What Did I Think Of Her Night With The Duke?

I thought Her Night With The Duke was okay. I was not super invested in it. Nor did it ever merit my undivided attention. Leela was an interesting character in that she wrote books about her travels to the Middle East and earned money from the income. She was a capable, somewhat independent woman. I did think she was a bit too self sacrificing. What was more interesting to me was the story of her step daughter and how everything played out with her (it’s quite wonderful and I wish it had merited its own book). As for Elliot, he’s okay. Again, I wasn’t very into this book.

How’s The Narration?

The audiobook of Her Night With The Duke is narrated by Zara Hampton-Brown. It is 8 hours and 56 minutes long. I listened sped up to 1.5x. The audiobook isn’t bad. There’s nothing that was a big turn off. I was glad to have ear phones, however, because it does have some adult scenes that I did not want to listen to in front of other people.

  1. Historical romances are a hit or miss for me as well; I’m happy this one had some steamy scenes at least!
