Pretty Crooked Elisa Ludwig Book Review

You ever read a book with a premise and think to yourself this can’t end well and then find your attention luridly glued to it because — who doesn’t love a train wreck? Pretty Crooked by Elisa Ludwig is totally one of those books. The whole time reading, I had a sort of cringe on my face, yet I could NOT look away. Y’all, I was seriously amused by main character Willa’s train wreck.

Pretty Crooked

Willa and her artist mom have moved around a lot. This time after making it big with a few painting sales, Willa’s mom moves them to Paradise Valley, Arizona and enrolls Willa at posh Valley Prep. She’s a little out of her league, but by luck falls in with the popular crowed, also called the Glitterati. Y’all the Glitterati suck and run a site much like Juicy Campus. They make fun of scholarship students which totally gets my goat. Willa decides this is stupid and takes it into her head to steal from her rich friends and give to the poor kids.

Worst.Idea.Ever. I mean, she’s got the best of intentions, but any semi-rational person will be able to understand why this scheme isn’t brilliant. And YOU GUYS, I just kept turning pages in anticipation of the eventual crash and burn despite being hopeful that maybe things would work out for the best.

I didn’t mind Willa as a character because she has a good heart. Granted, she is a little free spirited for me, but I did not want to see or fail because sometimes, at least in the case of Pretty Crooked, I thought that awful Glitterati got what it deserved. And I suppose that makes me an awful person, but I just LOVE it when people get their just deserts.

Pretty Crooked will appear to the sort of reader who enjoys hijinks and doesn’t suffer from major book anxiety, because y’all there’s anxiety aplenty and I would not want you to get a heart attack or anything. I liked Pretty Crooked by Elisa Ludwig well enough, it was a good BEA is over, read a nice light fun book sort of read. If that is what you are looking for in  your next read, definitely check this one out.
