If you are looking for a sweet and fast holiday read that genuinely feels like a Hallmark movie, might I recommend Christmas At Silver Falls by Jenny Hale. It turns out that Jenny Hale’s books just really do it for me when it comes to Christmas reading. Christmas At Silver Falls features Scarlett Bailey who has always spent Christmas at her grandparents’ inn at Silver Falls. This year is going to be the last year as her family feels her grandma can’t handle running the inn on her home. Scarlett is holding out hope for a miracle and maybe an investment from Charlie Bryant who is a property developer who happens to be in town. Of course — sparks fly between Charlie and Scarlett.
I think that if you like books that are more sweet than spicy, you will like Christmas At Silver Falls. There is absolutely no spice in this. The most that happens is kissing. Scarlett is a determined main character and someone who really goes for what she wants while believing in the power of Christmas. I also loved Scarlett’s family and how tightly knit they are. The story reminded me of spending the holidays with my loud and boisterous family while also missing my grandfather. I also really enjoyed Charlie’s redemption arc.
On A Scale Of One To Buddy The Elf, How Much Christmas Spirit Does This Book Have?
I would say this book has a tremendous amount of Christmas spirit. There’s a Christmas scavenger hunt with amazing prizes that takes place at the local bar. I loved that idea – btw. There is baking. Oh and a visit from Santa. Additionally — this book is such a fast read which put me in the spirit especially after struggling through some real slogs.
