Why Did I Listen To Until The Beginning by Amy Plum?
Until The Beginning by Amy Plum is the final book in Plum’s After The End duology. I actually genuinely quite liked After The End and wanted to see how the story would wrap up. I remember enjoying Miles and Juneau’s story in the first book, so I had little apprehension about reading Until The Beginning. Plus, the audiobook has dual narrators and that is a thing that absolutely appeals to me.
What’s The Story Here?
So, Amy Plum’s sequel picks up pretty quickly from where After The End leaves off, if I recall correctly. Juneau’s clan is gone — they’re actually in a whole other state. So, anyways, basically Juneau and Miles go traipsing after Juneau’s clan. Also, she learns a whole lot about her clan and some underlying secrets. It’s kind of a big deal. Oh, and Miles gets connected into the Yara. Of course, the romance that started in After The End also continues in Until The Beginning and it has a culmination that I really genuinely liked. I was into the different twists and turns that this book took, even though I felt like I could predict bits and pieces of it here and there.
How Did I Like This Book?
I liked Until The Beginning well enough. It does a nice job of wrapping up Juneau and Miles’s story. This book is a pretty quick listen/read. While I was not hugely invested in the outcomes, it’s a nice distraction during a time in my life where I just want easy books. I will say that I probably read the two books in the series way too far apart and I did have some confusion as to continuation, but overall, this was a good, non life changing book.
How’s The Narration?
The audiobook of Until The Beginning is narrated by Emily Rankin and Graham Hamilton, who read the chapters of Juneau and Miles, respectively. I legitimately have nothing bad to say about their narration. In fact, it’s quite easy on the ears. I read the first book physically and then switched up formats for the sequel. I have exactly zero regrets about this. If you’re nervous about reading via audio instead of physically, don’t be. This book is very well narrated and in capable hands.
