Why Did I Listen To This Novella?
Basically, because I believe Sherlock Holmes is the shit. Also. It was short. It was free. It had some geese. AND BEST OF ALL it fit perfectly into my ‘there is a readathon and I need to run errands and cook some food for myself but CANNOT STOP READING, so y’all I popped on my audiobook of Arthur Conan Doyle’s novella: The Adventure Of The Blue Carbuncle and listened to it straight through.
What’s The Story Here?
Basically The Adventure Of The Blue Carbuncle by Arthur Conan Doyle is a wild goose chase, literally. Set during Christmas, some jewelry goes missing and Sherlock Holmes thinks that the accused didn’t do it, so he goes in search of who really did it. And yeah, geese.
Who Would I Recommend This To?
If you like fun short mysteries with only the most awesome detective of all time and have some working knowledge of Sherlock Holmes, you should most certainly check out The Adventure Of The Blue Carbuncle. It totally does not go off the rails, unlike this other one that I read, A Study In Scarlet.
How Is The Narration?
The narrator is Alan Cumming and he is superb. He nails it and manages to make for a good listen. ALSO! The audiobook is under an hour long, it’s perfect for your readathon needs, yo. I realize this is the shortest review ever, but you guys this novella was wicked short and I can’t make myself natter on and on and on about it.
On A Scale Of One To Clark Griswold How Much Christmas Spirit Does This Book Have?
You know, I am going to place The Adventure Of The Blue Carbuncle more towards the one end of the scale. It’s set during Christmas and there is a neat mystery, but you know Santa does not make an appearance or anything.
