Why Did I Listen To Trusting Liam by Molly McAdams?

Trusting Liam by Molly McAdams is a book that I am one of the least likely people to read, given how much I did not love Taking Chances. However, apparently pregnancy does things to your brain and so, I picked this one up out of the blue. The audiobook seemed like a laid back, easy sort of listen. Plus, this sequel is just so short. Also, it’s from an actual publisher, so just how much could it go off the rails like it’s predecessor? I am delighted to say, NOT VERY MUCH. Thankfully.

What’s The Story Here?

Trusting Liam opens up with a sex scene. Kennedy wakes up from a one night stand while in Vegas. She doesn’t let anyone get close though, and so she sneaks out of the room convinced that she’ll never see the guy again. Meanwhile, the guy, Liam, was totally into her and finds himself pining for her after she leaves. The book then jumps one year later. Kennedy and her sister, Kira, have to move from their Florida home to California because as it turns out, this gang that their dad helped to put away is about to be released and wants revenge.

Kennedy’s path crosses with Liam’s again in the most random of ways. He actually is working for her uncle and has been tasked with helping the girls feel less lonely. So, he ends up getting them to apply for a job at his dad’s gym. FYI, his dad is Brandon from Taking Chances. Kennedy and Liam end up spending a whole lot of time with each other, and yes, of course falling for each other. Only, Kennedy has a big secret that she’s hiding from Liam, one that may cost them their relationship.

How Did I Like Trusting Liam?

I am actually glad that I gave Trusting Liam by Molly McAdams a chance. I mean, yes, I absolutely did not love the previous book. However, this book dials back that absurdity, thank goodness. Okay so there are still parts of the plot which are kind of implausible to me, based on my own life experiences. Kennedy and Liam are so much more likable. Kennedy is quite independent. She actually went to college to LEARN. Plus, she makes her own money and doesn’t rely on some guy. Also, I loved the bits with her twin sister, Kira. Liam is actually pretty great too. Oh and yes, there is sort of a love triangle but based on the name of the book I bet it isn’t all that hard for you to guess who Kennedy is going to pick. Actually, that part was the most absurd, but it was not the focus of the book.

How’s The Narration?

I feel like Trusting Liam was endearing to me because it was well narrated. The audiobook has dual narrators – Cody Hammersmith and June Hadley who read the alternating point of views of Liam and Kennedy respectively. The only thing I didn’t love was Hammersmith’s female voicing, but that’s kind of common when I listen to audiobooks narrated by males. Overall though, I am glad I went with audio as opposed to reading this book any other way. I enjoyed it much more than I had expected to.
