But Emmie’s plan backfires when a mix-up has the wrong guy following her clues! Sam, a best-selling mystery writer, thinks Emmie’s clever Christmas riddles are from his agent, who is trying to help him get over his epic writer’s block.
When he arrives at Christmas Point and finds the stunned Emmie, he immediately feels she’s someone special, but she can’t see beyond the fact that the wrong guy has shown up. Inspired by the small, charming town, Sam decides to stay and convinces Emmie to join him in a little holiday fun while she waits for Grant.
When Grant finally shows up, Emmie is disappointed to discover he’s not enjoying the activities she planned and can’t help wonder if he’s really the one for her. She also can’t get Sam out of her mind and all the great times they had together. With Christmas coming fast, Emmie will need the magic of the season to help steer her in the direction of true love...

 

I feel like I read a Karen Schaler book on an annual basis, starting with Christmas Camp, then Christmas Camp Wedding, and now this year Finding Christmas. These books read like Hallmark movies and it makes absolute sense why they do. You see, the author has written a few Christmas movies. So that expertise carries over to her books, which is awesome. For a wholesome holiday read, you can’t go wrong with any of Schaler’s books, but especially Finding Christmas.

Emmie is Miss Christmas, at least according to those who know her best. She finds that she can best honor the memory of her parents by leaning hard into her holiday traditions. Her boyfriend Grant, however, doesn’t seem to care all that much about the holidays. Instead, he is really absorbed with making partner at his law firm. Grant has promised Emmie he would spend a Christmas themed weekend with her to understand why she loves the holidays so much.

So, Emmie starts the weekend off with a scavenger hunt leading up to the small town of Christmas Point, where she will be waiting for him. Only, it turns out Grant’s clue got mixed up with a gift for Sam. Sam is the one who follows all the clues and ends up at Christmas Point with Emmie. In true Hallmark movie fashion, Emmie and Sam have chemistry and Emmie finds herself questioning just who the right guy for her is.

Finding Christmas is an extremely quick read. The plot is very easy to follow. I also thought that the concept was really unique as well. However, I feel that I would have been happier with more depth from the characters. It was so obvious who Emmie would end up with, there was no contest. There were no real stakes as far as the romance piece because it was very obvious. One had not great or compatible traits and the other was Emmie’s perfect match. However, if you want a book that will take you no time to finish, Finding Christmas is the book for you.

On A Scale Of One To Buddy The Elf, How Much Christmas Spirit Does Finding Christmas Have?

Finding Christmas is almost over the top with Christmas. Emmie has multiple Christmas trees and wreaths. One plus side is that the book describes some sweet treats which in turn made me hungry for desserts and cookies. As the concept is a Christmas themed scavenger hunt and weekend get away, there’s all kinds of seasonal activities in this book. I think if your spirit is on par with Buddy The Elf, you will absolutely find joy in Karen Schaler’s Finding Christmas.
