Allison: Book Blogger Challenge Day 4

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge | Good Books And Good Wine

Day 4 prompt is the last book that you flung across the room.

For me this is going to have to be The Wonder Bread Summer by Jessica Anya Blau. I read this book back in 2014 and to this day I still do not understand it. It was a very confusing read that made me want to DNF most of the way through but, I pushed through because I wanted to see if it would get any better.

There was one part in particular in the book that really did have me ready to fling it across the room due to its ick factor. The main character also was completely flaky and kept continuously making stupid decisions without learning from them.  The writing was also very awkward and didn’t feel like the book was set in the 1980’s like it was supposed to be at all.

If I’m honest, there was not one redeeming quality about this book that would make me recommend it to someone. Of course, books speak differently to different people – and what I didn’t like about it someone else may. But for me, this one just did not work, and thus…

What was the last book you flung across the floor?

  1. I’ve never read this, but I’ll be sure to stay away! It’s also been a long time since I threw a book across a room–mostly because I’m better at stopping and setting the book aside before I get to that point. :p

  2. The last book? I think that would be… Nine Folds Make a Paper Swan by Ruth Gillian. The mistakes I found about Jewish dietary laws were SO bad, I gave up! Then, the publisher had the gall to say that she had researched it with rabbis!
