Once a century, one person is chosen for greatness.
Elisa is the chosen one.
But she is also the younger of two princesses. The one who has never done anything remarkable, and can’t see how she ever will.
Now, on her sixteenth birthday, she has become the secret wife of a handsome and worldly king—a king whose country is in turmoil. A king who needs her to be the chosen one, not a failure of a princess.
And he’s not the only one who seeks her. Savage enemies, seething with dark magic, are hunting her. A daring, determined revolutionary thinks she could be his people’s savior, and he looks at her in a way that no man has ever looked at her before. Soon it is not just her life, but her very heart that is at stake.
Elisa could be everything to those who need her most. If the prophecy is fulfilled. If she finds the power deep within herself. If she doesn’t die young.
Most of the chosen do.

YOU GUYS! OMG! IT IS THROWBACK THURSDAY but on a Monday! Remember back when I first read The Girl Of Fire And Thorns and had praise hands all over the place because I loved it so much? Well, thanks to an awesome event hosted by Me, Myshelf And I, I get to revisit Carson’s trilogy in time for the release of Walk On Earth A Stranger.

So, okay here are my thoughts on these chapters:

First off, I just want to hand Elisa some life affirmations because girl, look, you may not love the way you look but confidence is everything and you should really love yourself. I mean, she is just so down on herself. Of course, she’s sixteen and what sixteen year old girl is all I AM BEYONCE HEAR ME ROAR, except, of course, Beyonce. I mean, when I was 16, I was all omg I am so ugly and gangly and woe is me. Elisa also really likes food and GIRL I FEEL YOU because I also really like food. So, essentially what you need to know is Elisa is me as you are she as you are we. She is about to get married to this guy named Alejandro who happens to be king of Joya D’Arena and is she praying for him to be nice and handsome and wonderful? NO. She wants him to be ugly so she can find a reason to be okay with him not being into her. ALSO ELISA IS A TROLL DOLL! I mean that in the nicest way possible, but she has this stone in her stomach called a godstone and she actually is the chosen one.

This song always plays in my head when I think about King Alejandro. I bet if Lady Gaga existed in this world, this song would be in Elisa’s head too.

Okay, so anyways, after some sibling rivalry with her sister Alodia who is older and pretty much heir to the throne, Elisa gets married to King Alejandro who is actually hot and they go on a ride to Brisadulce, the capital of Joya D’Arena. There is excitement on the road trip and some deaths and even more important HECTOR. YOU GUYS HECTOR. I am already getting into spoils but he is part of the Royal Guard and Elisa impresses him with her tactical mind. And OMG ALL THE FEELS TO COME MY OVARIES ARE UNABLE TO HANDLE IT.

And then, she’s at court and feeling insecure but then she meets Alejandro’s son, Prince Rosario. AND HE IS MAD ADORABLE YOU GUYS!

Also, there’s a quorum meeting and some characters are total douchebags and there’s drama over Invierne and IT IS LIKE FORESHADOWING now that I know what is to come.

And you guys? It is so good to be back in this world!
