On the night before they leave for college, Clare and Aidan only have one thing left to do: figure out whether they should stay together or break up. Over the course of twelve hours, they'll retrace the steps of their relationship, trying to find something in their past that might help them decide what their future should be. The night will lead them to friends and family, familiar landmarks and unexpected places, hard truths and surprising revelations. But as the clock winds down and morning approaches, so does their inevitable goodbye. The question is, will it be goodbye for now or goodbye forever? This new must-read novel from Jennifer E. Smith, author of The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, explores the difficult choices that must be made when life and love lead in different directions.

I love that I can always count on Jennifer E. Smith’s books for an adorable, romantic read that will give me ALL OF THE FEELS. When approved for Hello, Goodbye, And Everything In Between, I was SO EXCITED OMG. SO EXCITED. Because I knew that all of the feels were about to happen. My instincts as always proved correct when it came to Hello, Goodbye, And Everything In Between. I started this book and read it almost in entirety on my phone. It was that good – where I was totally sucked into the story despite not reading it on my device of choice.

Hello, Goodbye, And Everything In Between is set on the night before Claire and Aidan leave for college – Claire for Dartmouth and Aidan for UCLA. The two are bound for opposite sides of the country and so, there’s really not a conceivable way their relationship can work. If anything, it’ll just be hard and put a damper on the college experience. And so, this book’s premise is that Aidan and Claire go on a scavenger hunt of sorts – visiting places that have meant something to their relationship and they work up the courage to breakup. While reading this book, I am not going to lie I spent my whole time on the fence. I wanted them to stay together, but then I understood that it is completely impractical for them to stay together.

Claire is the main character in Jennifer E. Smith’s latest book and she is actually quite understated, but great. She is sort of an introvert and quiet compared to Aidan. In fact, there are moments where she wonders why Aidan was attracted to her in the first place. She has brown hair. She’s really, really good at school and such. Her relationship with her parents and also with Aidan’s family is great. However, Claire is not without her faults. For example, her best friend Stella was having this issue but Claire doesn’t notice because she has made things all about herself for so long. She is a bit self centered. It isn’t on purpose, just she is really preoccupied. I liked that Smith included this very real flaw. I think a lot of people, myself included, are like that. Self centered to the point that we don’t notice what other people are going through. But what I like is that eventually Claire tries to be better, just like many of us.

As a couple, I loved Aidan and Claire. For real, they balance each other out really well. Even though okay sometimes the goof ball and the serious one trope gets a little played out, it works here. Especially because they are allowed to switch roles. That’s kind of really awesome. And ugh, each moment where they relive memories is SO ADORABLE. I literally cannot. What even is air right now? That’s how those moments read. If you’re looking for romance, this is the absolute right book for you to read at the moment. Jennifer E. Smith as always, nails down the adorable.

Hello, Goodbye, And Everything In Between by Jennifer E. Smith did take me a fair amount of time to read, but mainly because I read it on my phone during breaks. Except for the end of the book, I rarely sat down and just read it straight through. That’s okay though. For a break book, it absolutely kept my attention. I loved most of my moments reading it. Even the moments where I teared up, because yes, I absolutely did tear up over the ending because this is a book WITH FEELS.
