Allison: Top Ten Books I Will Probably Never Read

This topic was a little tricky for me because I usually don’t like to put the label out there in terms of what I will absolutely not read. I’m one of those people that wants to give every book a fair shot but sometimes you just can’t do that. Every book is not going to work for every person, and sometimes it’s better to cut your losses while you’re ahead instead of causing yourself more pain then it is worth. So…without further do…

Top Ten Books I Will Probably Never Read

The Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy – E.L. James

I’ve never had an interest in checking out this trilogy. Nope. No thank you.

The Twilight Series – Stephanie Meyers

When my friends were all like “OMG TWILIGHT!” I was like “OMG. No. Thank You.” True story.

The Mortal Instruments series – Cassandra Clare

Another series that I’ve never had any interest in. Plus, I’ve heard too many less- than-pleasant things from bloggers that I trust so I’m going to have to say this is just not for me.

The Crash Trilogy – Nicole Williams

I read the first one in the trilogy but have had no interest in continuing to find out what happens to the characters.

The Magic Most Foul Trilogy – Leanna Renee Hieber

So much promise. So much let down. No more for me.

The Klaatu Diskos Trilogy – Pete Hautman

What just happened? Way too confusing for me. Have no interest in continuing with it.

Wuthering Heights – Emily Bronte

One of my least favorite books I had to read while in school. I couldn’t even finish it and to this day, I can’t pick it up without cringing.

Cosby: His Life and Times – Mark Whitaker

If you had asked me a couple years ago if I would have read this book, I probably would have said yes but these days … not so much.

Taking Chances – Molly McAdams

I’m not interested in reading something where the basis for the relationship is cheating. Also, I trust April … and she is definitely not a fan.

No One Else Can Have You – Kathleen Hale

No. No. No. No … and did I mention NO? I just…can’t…for various reasons. Most of which many of you can guess.

Are any of these books on your list?

Do you think I should change my mind about one of them?

Tell me why in the comments!

  1. Yep, I also have Fifty Shades of Grey in my list. And yes, no need to waste your time with the Mortal Instruments trilogy.

  2. A lot of these I have no interest in, but totally forgot all about. I do have Fifty on my list and now I’m tempted to add No One Else Can Have You

  3. Fifty Shades is on my list as well. I agree with many of your choices. Except Twilight. I was just like you until I finally decided to give in and try it a few years ago. That darn vampire sucked me right in.

  4. Fifty Shades of Grey, Twilight and The Mortal Instruments were all on my list this week. I also highly doubt I’ll ever read Wuthering Heights.

  5. Couple of these on my list today … couple I haven’t heard of though. Wuthering Heights is on my “to read” list… no idea if I’ll like it or not.

  6. I keep seeing 50 Sades of Gray a lot xD and I tottaly agree, along with Twilight. I tried to read it but couldn’t get into it but I did kind of liked the movies!

  7. 50 shades was the first book I thought of!

  8. I haven’t read many of these books, but I have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of Twilight and Fifty Shades. I’m not really into paranormal, but the character of Edward intrigued me. And I loved the characterization in Fifty Shades. For these series, I worry less about writing technique and I allow myself to get swept up into the romance and compelling characterization. As a result, I have felt thoroughly entertained. I abhor subjugation of women, but I don’t believe that is part of Fifty Shades, and I feel defensive when people deplore these books for mistreatment of women when they haven’t read them. I’m also not a big erotica fan, but Fifty Shades has some of the best sex scenes I’ve read.

There are so many great books out there that I totally respect your desire not to read the above books…just wanted to add my $.02!

  9. Oh, dude, YES to so many of these! I wish I had added FSoG to my list. I have a negative amount of interest in that series.

Yes to KH, to CC and to Cosby. Great choices.
