Enjoy Fool Me Twice and the other standalone titles in Bloomsbury's contemporary If Only romance line centered around an impossible problem: you always want what you can't have! Sometimes you just need a light and refreshing brain candy kind of book. Fool Me Twice by Mandy Hubbard is the kind of book that does not require much investment on the end of the reader. The story is fairly straight forward. There’s not a whole lot of nail biting or anxiety that occurs while reading. This is just the exact sort of book to read when you need a mood booster. I thought that Mandy Hubbard’s book was perfect for taking down my stress level and relaxing.

Fool Me Twice is about Mackenzie who is spending her second summer working at a luxury resort ranch. She works mainly with the horses, while her best friend works in the spa. Because of this, Mackenzie is allowed to have colorful hair and a unique way of dressing. Unfortunately, though, her job puts her in contact with Landon, this boy that she dated last summer who dropped her for his ex as soon as school started back up. When Landon has an accident that causes him to think that it’s last year and that he and Mackenzie are dating again, Mackenzie takes advantage and uses the situation as means to obtain revenge.

As a main character, Mackenzie is not too bad. She’s not like super amazing or the best ever, but I liked her. I liked that she was up for adventures and that she’s bold with her style. I liked that she was willing to be vulnerable about her rejection and breakup. Also! Her friendship with Bailey was super wonderful. I liked how the two supported each other and were not frenemies at all. Definitely need more of this in books.

So, the romance in Fool Me Twice by Mandy Hubbard does involve a bit of a suspension of disbelief, but don’t most books? Anyways, I thought it was sweet. Mack has the intention of revenge, but then she starts to fall for Landon. However, this time around she’s more herself. It’s like she doesn’t have anything to lose because supposedly she doesn’t have a vested interest. Thus, she cuts loose and the results are great. There’s pranks and debates and a push pull. I liked it. And you know, I thought I would hate Landon, but he proves himself in this book.

Overall, if you want a book that is super easy to get through with a happy, predictable ending, give Fool Me Twice a shot. I really liked this book for what it was. I didn’t come in expecting a literary masterpiece, and thus I was overly satisfied.
