Stacking The Shelves (54)

Friends, it has been a roller coaster ride of a week. Sunday was a really terrible no good very bad day. I won’t go into detail quite yet, but suffice to say, I’ve never felt more violated as a person. I haven’t really been able to read or focus all week. Friday, finally, for the first time all week I was able to read more than 3 pages at a time. I finished a book, finally. And I know for some people a book a week is normal, but for me, that’s a slump. I pickedย Sorrow’s Knot back up after putting it on pause and it’s kind of really hitting the spot. I’m hoping to finish it today. What are you reading? How has your week been going?

  1. I’m sorry your week was so awful, April, I hope your weekend and next week is much, much better.

I haven’t heard of your first three books, but the one that’s similar to GoT sounds like it has potential.

I don’t get the idea of a book sampler in place of an ARC, either, especially for book bloggers. I like to read the whole book at once, not just read a chapter and then have to wait for the rest. I hope you end up liking the candles ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. I am so pissed off that this happened to you. I am glad you are doing a post about it though. Or at least I thought you were. I think it can help others if you do.

So the candles in the Grisha box. I am a candle nut. I believe the scents are rose, orange, and some kind of pine. I KNOW for sure the one is rose because it’s my favorite fragrance. I got that box too. ๐Ÿ™‚ I think I am going to keep bookish swag in there that I don’t know what to do with. Will keep things around here a little neater.

Is it weird that I am not particularly interested in dragons? I mean, if the book is recommended by a bunch of reviewers I trust, I will try it. But I rarely pick up a book with dragons on my own. I feel like such an outcast. Haha.

  3. Yay for a vlog! I’m very interested in reading The Queen of the Tearling. It sounds like an epic fantasy novel, which is right up my alley! Also, the cover for A Creature of Moonlight is really cool because it has a dragon. Basically, that’s all that matters for that ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. First off, I really hope everything is okay, April! I don’t even want to speculate what happened because I know I’ll just assume the worst and worry. Let me know if you need anything!

Second, I didn’t know you loved Deanna Raybourn’s books too!!! I can’t wait to read this new book, but I’ve been waiting because I know I’ll binge read it and then be sad! I love, love, loved her book set in Africa though… I can hardly keep in stock at the bookstore because I recommend it to everyone! And her mystery books are so good too!

Aaaaand I love your expression as you’re holding up the R&R box. haha. I was so happy when it came too!

  5. That screencap is EPIC.
    You rule.

Now I’m going to go raid Amazon Vine and get all those books. WOO.

  6. I need to read Torn Away! Great haul and I hope you enjoy your new books.

  7. Nice haul April. The Queen of Tearling looks really good. I’m waiting for it to come out, so that I can have a finished copy. Prefer finished copies sometimes. Great haul of books.

  8. Great haul! That swag box is really awesome ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you enjoy your books ๐Ÿ™‚ My STS.

  9. I totally want to read Queen of the Tearling!! Epic fantasy is my calling card as well. As is long in page count. Drool. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
