Halfway There! Dewey Spring 2014 Readathon Midpoint Survey

Here’s the midpoint Readathon survey:

This GIF sums up my readathon feelings so far.

1. What are you reading right now?

As I type this out, I am taking a break to listen to more of Deep Blue by Jennifer Donnelly. I am physically reading One Man Guy by Michael Barakiva. It’s so adorable.

2. How many books have you read so far?

I’ve finished four books so far, which considering none have been books for very young children is pretty darn good. I’m also 133 pages into my physical read and 200 pages into my audiobook.

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?

All of the graphic novels I picked. I saved them for the later half when my eyes get tired and are in desperate need of pictures.

4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day?

Not really, nope. Usually my weekends are boring and quiet.

5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?

The only interruption was when I went to the post office to check my mail and to get a money order and mail my rent for May. I dealt with it by LOL putting on some earphones and my hoodie and listening to my audiobook the whole time.

6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?

I think this is like my 7th readathon? So nothing? Maybe that I have not had a sugar crash at all just yet.

7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?

Nope, readathon is always awesome.

8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year?

Nothing — this year is going great. I think I may take a break to do some rogue cheering once I finishing One Man Guy.

9. Are you getting tired yet?

Nope, I am still going strong AND AND I am not caffeinated, but I have been drinking all this water out of a mason jar and that helps. Also, between each physical book, I do something physical, like squats or half-cobra push ups or jumping jacks.

10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered?

Basically eating all of the candy and do not eat salt and vinegar Cape Cod kettle chips and then touch your iPhone, that is a really terrible idea. Also, it’s okay to get sucked into a texting break with one of your friends as long as you can focus right back on reading. ALSO! Sandwiches with melted cheese will basically affirm your joy for reading. Also? If you throw something in the slow cooker and set it for the whole day, it really makes a fantastic and perfect dinner. Oh and have an audiobook queued up for all the times you need to read the house or do something where you can’t wander around physically reading a book with your eyes.
