Stacking The Shelves (53)

What a week! So, the last time I talked to you all, I am pretty sure I was the picture of perfect health. This week, it’s like my whole life caught up with me. I’m perfectly okay with that, however, I am not entirely okay with this illness. I got sick starting Wednesday, but I dragged my carcass into work because I totally could not miss presenting and doing this thing that I’ve poured all my energies and efforts into. It’s like that episode of Parks And Recreation where Leslie Knope gets the flu and she does her presentation for the chamber of secrets, I mean, the chamber of commerce. Then Thursday, it’s like a freight train hit my body and you know I was raised with the whole, if you aren’t dead you’re going to school thing, which meant I ended up getting sent home and omg, I think I have the plague. Anyways, so Friday was a day of sleeping on the couch and hazing in and out of Law & Order: SVU. There’s just something about Law & Order that cures me. I don’t know what it is. So anyways, here I am on Saturday and not 100% but in recovery mode. How are you all doing this week?

For Review:

The Gospel Of Winter by Brendan Kiely (Vine) – I picked this because the subject matter seemed interesting. It’s about a boy going through a rough patch and he’s then abused by someone within his church. Anyways, this is published by Simon & Schuster and I’m looking forward to this YA contemporary book.

Infinite Sky by CJ Flood (Unsolicited Review Copy) – This book is one I wasn’t sure about when I saw it on Edelweiss. However, in person, looking at the blurb on the back it sounds really good. It’s set in England and is about grief and heartbreak and you guys know I love a depressing read.

Aside from those two, no physical copies. I did see a few new titles on Edelweiss that I am whitelisted for, but I haven’t downloaded them yet. This whole inertia thing, ya know.

  1. Thanks for sharing. Feel better soon. Loved the purple dress

  2. I hope you continue to feel better, April!

I too like reading about real-life issues, and your first book sounds really relevant to some issues here in Aus right now.

I love the cover of Infinite Sky!

And all those dresses and a top for $50 – bargain, they look great!

    • Thanks Mandy!

Yeah, real life issues are pretty great when I am looking not for escapism, but connection, ya know?

Agreed, the cover of Infinite Sky is lovely.

I love when Modcloth does the stylish surprise, where else can I score a $225 dress for $10?!

      Thanks for commenting 🙂

  3. I hope you feel better soon, April! I’m pretty excited for Infinite Sky as well, and hopefully, it turns out to be something awesome.

    • Thanks, Alexa! I am thinking I should be totally over this thing by Monday. Maybe that’s wishful thinking, but hey power of positive thinking and such.

I hope Infinite Sky is good too. The reviews on goodreads are mostly positive. 🙂

  4. You don’t look half-dead! And I hope you feel much better, April 🙂

That cover of The Gospel of Winter is pretty cool! That’s a neat idea, with the transparent dust jacket 😀 I haven’t heard of either of the books you got, but I hope you enjoy them.

And OMG. You got all of that for $50?! Where can I find this stylish surprise! I definitely would not mind getting one of those, especially for that price!

Have a fabulous weekend, April! Get well soon =)

    Check out my STS post!

    • Thanks Alyssa, it’s the magic of makeup, trust without it I look like a zombie!

I love the transparent dust jacket, it’s so neat. 🙂

Basically modcloth does the stylish surprise a few times per year, sometimes the items are good, sometimes, they are duds. Luckily for me, this time it worked out pretty well and all the dresses are ones I would wear in my real life.

Thanks again, I am aiming for recovery ASAP!

  5. Hope you feel better soon! And that Modcloth Surprise was awesome!!! I loved ALL the dresses! They looked super cute! I’ve been wanting to do the Amazon Vine for ages now…..basically since 2009 when I started blogging. I have no clue how they pick and choose who reviews for the Vine! Happy Reading! Here’s my STS if you’d like to stop by.

  6. AW! Poor girl!! The flu is horrible. Just horrible. *sends care package filled with tea, kleenex, a snuggy blanket and books*

  7. I’ve not heard of those two books.I’m sorry to hear you were sick. 🙁 I bet you were thinking of A Death Struck Year the whole time. lol. Glad you are starting to feel better!

The dresses are super cute!! I love that you model them at the end. The second on is my favorite. 🙂 I never used to be all that into dresses, but over the past few years I’ve collected some sundresses. I’ll be wearing them on our cruise in may.

Hope you have a great week!
