Reddit Book Exchange

Have you guys ever heard of Reddit? It’s basically exactly what it advertises: “The Front Page of the Internet.” Internet users post content that you can upvote or downvote and start conversations on. I’ve learned so much from this website, both useful and pointless. Nevertheless, the website creates hours upon hours of entertainment!

One of my favorite parts of Reddit is their sister website, RedditGifts. Through RedditGifts, you can sign up for exchanges that enable you to interact with someone from anywhere in the world. You pick an exchange, sign up, retreive your match, do a little research on your match, send them a gift (based on the theme of the exchange), and then receive one in the mail from another person in the world.

I recently did the Secret Santa exchange and loved it. I ordered my giftee some presents online based on her interests and then picked up little presents at a local store. I then received a video game I had been wanting for a long time in the mail from my anonymous Santa. The people you give to and receive from are two different people.

Reddit Book ExchangeWhy am I bringing all of this up on a book reviewing blog? RedditGifts just announced a Book Exchange! If you like the idea of participating in a book exchange with someone from across the globe, this is for you! I’ve signed up and I’m already thinking about all the books I want to send. The suggested spending amount is 20 dollars. However, you can literally spend nothing but shipping if you already have books at home in good condition! I am super excited for this and figured I should pass it along to all the other readers out there!

You can sign up here. As of right now, there are 1,863 readers out there signed up! Will you be next?

Keep these important dates in mind:

Dates
Signup Starts February 17, 2014
Signup Ends March 03, 2014
Must Ship By March 21, 2014

Let me know if you sign up in the comments! Maybe the stars will align and I will be matched with you! 🙂

  1. I totally just signed up 🙂 Thanks for the post!

  2. I would sign up if I didn’t already feel like I have a lot to read! Very cool idea though! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the outcome!

  3. I was thisclose to signing up, until I realized I already have so much to read! Sigh. I hate being responsible when it comes to books…I’d rather just hoard them.

I can’t wait to see what you get though!

  4. Absolutely love this idea! Thanks for sharing, Cassie!

  5. Very cool. Just signed up. Thanks for sharing!
