Top Ten Books on my Fall TBR

The Lightening Thief by Rick Riodan
Why? It’s one of my best friends favorite books and she has been pestering me FOREVER to read it. And now she’s starting to refuse to read the books I tell her to check out until I read this one.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Why? Because I feel the need to experience what Rainbow Rowell is all about. I’ve heard so much about her and her books so I’m excited to experience it all on my own!

Marie Antoinette Serial Killer by Katie Alender
Why? I’ve wanted to read this book since it was first introduced to me during BEA. It sounds like it could be totally epic.

Vortex by S.J Kincaid
Why? I need to reconnect with Tom and his friends. Also, I loved Insignia in a way that I never expected so I cannot wait to get back into that world again.

The Boyfriend App by Katie Sise
Why? This one sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with Katie for a bit at the Harper party at BEA and she’s really awesome so I’m very excited to check out her book.

Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein
Why? Do I really need to explain this one? I’ve been anticipating reading this one since I first heard about it but even after I attained a signed ARC at BEA I still continue to put it off because I’m nervous. Well nerves be damned this fall, I’m reading it!

If You Could Be Mine by Sara Farizan
Why? This is a book that has been calling to me since I first heard about it. It appears to be right up my alleyway, and I love the fact that it is going to bring some diversity into the YA world.

Every Day by David Levithan
Why? I’ve heard so many good things about David Levithan’s books (and I’ve even met him at an Oblong Books event) but the only actual experience I’ve had with his writing has been with Will Grayson, Will Grayson which I loved so I’m excited to give one of his books a shot on their own.

If I Stay by Gayle Forman
Why? Another author that has been at the top of my list for a while but just hasn’t broken through. Well this fall I’m determined to make sure she breaks through so that I can read at least one of her books and understand why almost everyone else I know absolutely loves her.

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
Why? One of my 2013 resolutions was to read The Hobbit and all of The Lord of the Rings books. Seeing as how it is already Fall, I better get started!

So, what do you think of my list? Have you read some of these? If so, which? Which ones are you most excited for me to read? Don’t forget to leave a link to your Fall TBR list in the comments!

  1. So many good books on this list! But you have to read Fangirl. I fangirl over that book. It is absolute perfection and will make you feel everything!

  2. I’m actually in the middle of Marie Antoinette Serial Killer right now! So far it’s pretty good. I’m not terribly far along though, I’m still in the mist of the story/mystery building. We have had a few appearances of Marie herself, but I’m hoping to get into the real good stuff soon. 🙂

  3. Great list! I’ve been thinking of re-reading The Hobbit, but not enough time for that undertaking. Also, I really need to hurry up and read a Rainbow Powell book!

  4. I hope you enjoy The Hobbit and all of TLOTR- they are really wonderful!

  5. I’m reading Vortex right now and I’m loving it. Also yes to The Hobbit!!

  6. Oooh lucky you for reading the Percy Jackson series for the first time! I loved it for a middle grade novel, and my nephew is just getting into it now. Wonder what Marie Antoinette would be like? Should be interesting! Hope you enjoy all your reads.

  7. The Percy Jackson Series is awesome and definitely worth a read. The spin-off/follow-up series The Heroes of Olympus is great too, I highly recommend reading both, but read Percy Jackson 1st.

I’ve heard so much praise about Everyday by David Leviathan! I forgot about that one when making my list!

    Happy Reading!

  8. Good luck getting your picks!!
I’m in the middle of Fangirl and it’s so good.

I was lucky enough to snag an egalley of Rose Under Fire (a big surprise since Disney-Hyperion kind of hates me, or at least loves to deny me 😀 ) and I’m looking forward to it 🙂

And read IF I STAY! Is so awesome

  9. Fangirl is on my list, too!

I’m looking forward to Marie Antoinette, Serial Killer and The Boyfriend App.

I totally bought If I Stay and Where She Went but now to read them…

  10. You have some great books on your list! The Hobbit is one of my favorite books, it’s so full of adventure. I hope you like it. If I Stay and The Lightning Thief are also really good books!
I’ve seen Fangirl on quite a few lists today, so naturally it’s now going into my stack to appear on the my winter TBR pile.

  11. I’m reading If You Could Be Mine and Fangirl at the moment and enjoying them both. I really need to read The Lightning Thief as well – the t(w)eens that I work with LOVE it. Hope to see you at a book event sometime soon!

  12. I really enjoyed The Lightning Thief. I’d definitely recommend it.

  13. Lisa (heylisarenee) says

YES PLEASE to some Percy Jackson! I also need to get on that Rainbow Rowell train. SOON.

  14. Such a great list.

Every Day is one of my favorite books. I love everything David Levithan does. I haven’t read his new book yet, though. I am super excited for Fangirl and Marie Antoinette, Serial Killer. Not sure if you know about NaNoWriMo (national novel writing month) but Fangirl is from that contest. You have one month to write 50,000 words (175 pages). Makes me want to read it even more since I will be participating for the second year.

Look forward to reading your reviews.

  15. Beautiful pictures of Autumn. My favorite season although Florida doesn’t have a strict Autumn. I haven’t read any of the books on your list, but I would like to read The Hobbit sometime.

  16. First of all— I am in love with that little gif, video, whatever the hell you wanna call it at the top. It is the perfect description of fall and seriously– every time I get cold this fall/winter I swear I am going to come back to this post just to see it. hahaha

Definitely some books on here I am looking forward to reading– especially Fangirl, The Boyfriend App, and Rose Under Fire!
