Stacking The Shelves (32)

You guys, before you judge me and go omg omg omg BEA galley snatcher, please note this Stacking The Shelves haul will not feature books I got at BEA, but books I have obtained over the past month as it has been almost one month since I’ve done a book haul post and I love featuring books in a haul because that might be the only time that book gets featured on the blog. Please note, I have already read some of the books I’ve received over the past month. And some of the books were duplicate copies which I totally plan on sharing. ALSO  I have so much life news! First off, remember how I was alluding to something on twitter and in my last Stacking The Shelves? Well, I just got hired for a new job providing direct services to crime victims, but especially victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Tony has received good news as well. And now we are in the process of boxing up all of my books and looking for a new place to live. It’s crazy and I’ve been a bit MIA, but I miss you all and am so excited for what life has in store next.

For Review:

This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales (Requested Review Copy)
The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I’ve already read this one and this is my third copy so expect a giveaway SOON!
Deception by CJ Redwine (Unsolicited Review Copy) – YAYYYYYYYYYYY!
Thornhill by Katherine Peacock (Unsolicited Review Copy) – This one will have to wait as I’ve packed up Hemlock and have not read it yet.
3:59 by Gretchen McNeil (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I know I will have to share this with Allison and so I plan on reading it SOON.
The Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas (Unsolicited Review Copy) – Cannot wait to dive into this thick bad boy.
Don’t Look Now by Michelle Gagnon (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I’ll read this when I’m in the mood for a popcorn action flick sort of read. Also, I need to write a review of the first book still.
Sweet Legacy by Tera Lynn Childs (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I have not even started this trilogy yet but I have all the books so I might as well read them pretty darn soon.
Horde by Ann Aguirre (Requested Review Copy) – I also need to finish this trilogy so one of these days I’ll read the two books in a row.
Wild Awake by Hilary T. Smith (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I will probably give this away, I am not sure yet. I read it and loved it, and I know I should be parsing down my books BUT IT IS SO PRETTY OMG.
Earthbound by Aprilynne Pike (Unsolicited Review Copy) – This randomly showed up and I have no idea what it is about but I might as well read it.
The Yonahlossee Riding Camp For Girls by Anton Disclafani (Vine) – Yay grown up books. The blurb sounded great.
September Girls by Bennet Madison (Unsolicited Review Copy) – Sarah of FYA liked this book and I trust her so I will give it a fair shake.
The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa (Vine) – Holla, hardcover.
Faking It by Cora Carmack (Unsolicited Review Copy) – My friends all seem to love Cora Carmack so I’ll give her a try. I packed up the other book she wrote though, Losing It.
Blood And Bone by Ian C. Esslemont (Unsolicited Review Copy) – Huh. I have no idea what this one is about.
Arclight by Join L. McQuein (Unsolicited Review Copy) – My third copy awwww yeah. I know I have to read this now.
The Boyfriend App by Katie Sise (Unsolicited Review Copy) – Again, a duplicate copy and the pressure is on to read.
How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True by Sara Strohmeyer (Unsolicited Review Copy) – Another duplicate copy, but yay contemporary. Also, I packed up Strohmeyer’s other YA that was sitting on my night stand and I want to read that one first.
Reboot by Amy Tintera (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I do love finished copies but I’ve already reviewed this. I may give it to my sister, she loves dystopias.
Parallel by Lauren Miller (Unsolicited Review Copy) – Second finished copy, I think. I totally need to read this SOON.
Life After Theft by Aprilynne Pike (Unsolicited Review Copy) – Pike definitely has been busy writing as I have two books from her in one haul. Can’t wait to dive into this one.
The Elite by Kiera Cass (Unsolicited Review Copy) – This is my third copy, I think. Either way these books are a guilty pleasure. I’m not ashamed.
Transparent by Natalie Whipple (Unsolicited Review Copy) – I wrote my review of this book today. The audio version, though. It goes up on Friday. Also, second review copy.

Audiobooks for review:

Transparent by Natalie Whipple (Requested review copy) – I’ve already listened to and written my review of this book. It goes live on Friday.
The School For Good And Evil by Soman Chainani (Requested review copy) – This is my current listen and I am LOVING it.

From Edelweiss And Netgalley:

Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein – Ahhhhhhhhh! So, I immediately read this upon approval. Y’all I LOVED IT WITH ALL MY HEART and cannot wait to share my thoughts with you.
Where The Stars Still Shine by Trish Doller – I feel so spoiled by Bloomsbury, I cannot wait to read this contemporary book given my love of Something Like Normal.
Wild Cards by Simone Elkeles – I’ve read this book already and actually really enjoyed it. It’s not the best writing I have ever read, BUT it is super swoonworthy and the romance has chemistry.
Crown Of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas – CHAOL! CHAOL! I am so pumped about this. I also ended up scoring a physical copy of this at BEA.
Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson – After getting a tip from Gone Pecan that this one was on Netgalley but you have to go through the BEA buzz book to request it, I immediately dropped out of line at BEA, and requested this one on my phone. I am that hardcore. Then I went home for the day instead of waiting in Sanderson’s massive line. Huzzah!
Starry Nights by Daisy Whitney – I just read and LOVED When You Were Here and so was beyond excited to be approved for this book!
Hostage Three by Nick Lake – So, Nick Lake won a Printz which means I will probably dig his books.
The Kingdom Of Little Wounds by Susann Cokal – So, I saw a copy of this at BEA and then was sent the netgalley widget and omfg you guys debut power struggle fantasy I CAN’T WAIT!
More Than This by Patrick Ness – OBVIOUSLY.
Resist by Sarah Crossan – Requested this one because I have Breathe and would like it on hand for when I finish.
Snapshot by Angie Stanton – Basically I enjoyed her self pub book Snowed Over and thought I’d give her books published through Harper Teen a chance.
Asylum by Madeleine Roux – Sounds like a readalike to that Ransom Riggs book, so I am down.

  1. It is actually kinda funny that you got Blood & Bone…there are a jillion of those Malazan books. I think they sent me the very first one quite awhile back, but I haven’t picked it up yet.

Also, I’m really excited about The Burning Sky as well! I have it loaded and ready on my Kindle.

    • LOL, Blood And Bone basically came out of nowhere. I do have the very first Malazan books by Steve something, so a totally different author, but I do look forward to it.

DUDE I just learned that the author of The Burning Sky is also a romance author, so I am even more excited for it.

  2. Congrats on all your good news, April! Your new job sounds great. Hope it’s just what you were looking for, and I’m sure they are lucky to have you. Good luck with moving too! I hate moving but love getting to a new place and starting fresh.

I loved This Song Will Save Your Life and hope you do too. It has a great kick-ass girl DJ in it and if you love music books like me I think you’ll click with it. The Yonahlossee Riding Camp for Girls book also looks fantastic.

Enjoy all your awesome new reads!

    • Thank you Lucy! I am really loving my new job so far and it’s definitely a learning experience and well, good to give back.

Oh my goodness I am so excited to hear that This Song Will Save Your Life is great, I legit cannot wait.

The Riding Camp book should be a nice break from YA for sure.

      Thank you 🙂

  3. Oh, I am so, so jealous that you got Thornhill and 3:59, April! I sent in a request for both but I haven’t had much if any luck with HarperTeen and physical ARCs, so I’ll lately have to wait until those are on EW. Will be stalking your updates for both! And good luck with September Girls. Heh.

    • I am going to keep my mind open with September Girls, I talked with someone who liked it and she kind of explained the point to me so I will go in with that in mind, like I think it’ll help.

Also, I hope those books go up on Edelweiss soon. I am at the point after all this damn packing where I am preferring ebooks LOL.

      • Reactions have been so very mixed (and so passionate) about September Girls that it actually makes me want to read it more than I did from the synopsis (which was just eh); I’m really curious how I’ll feel about it.

  4. Nice haul April. So many great books at BEA. I was so tired from BEA last week. Great haul of books. Come visit me as well.

    Grace

  5. OMG you have More Than This?! *dies* I’m beyond anxious for this book! And I’m very curious about this Steelheart. I remember seeing you mention it on Twitter. Congrats on the new job! 🙂

  6. Wow! So many great books, April! I read The Eternity Cure about a month ago and absolutely loved it. I can’t recommend Arclight, though – personally, I found the characters very flat and unappealing. I love your ARCs! I’m dying to read 3:59 and Thornhill.

  7. Awesome haul!! So many great books. I loved The Eternity Cure. Parallel was good too. OMG Thornhill and 3:59!! *dies* I am super looking forward to those ones!!

  8. Such a great haul! I had hoped to grab a copy of 3:59 at BEA but I think that was the day I missed. That book sounds amazing so I am looking forward to that review if you ever get around to reading it cuz WHOA this was a huge haul! Where is my vlog though, huh? HUH? 😀

  9. Ahh, congrats on the job and all the exciting life stuff!! Also, you have a pretty amazing haul here.

  10. Congrats to you and Tony on your new jobs! Those are some AMAZING books. Can’t wait for the reviews. I’ve been thinking about picking up Wild Awake. I got Rose Under Fire as well and can’t wait to read it! I have a few more review books I have to read before I can, but gahhhhh it’ll happen soon!

  11. So many awesome books. The Elite is a fun, fluffy read that has me wanting the final book. Horde, Sweet Legacy, Reboot, and many others look really good. I hope you enjoy most (if not all) these new books!
    Here are my newest additions.
